AWS Cloud & Database Migration Engineer

Strong hands-on PostgreSQL development and administration experience Database migration experience, preferably Oracle, SQL Server, or MySQL to PostgreSQL Strong SQL, database design, query optimization, performance tuning, and execution plan analysis Experience with ETL, data transformation, validation, backup/restore, replication, and high availability Cloud engineering experience with AWS and/or Azure Experience with Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, deployment automation, cloud networking, monitoring, and security Experience supporting enterprise-scale, business-critical database migration and modernization initiatives. The role focuses on secure, scalable, and resilient platforms across AWS Cloud with Oracle and PostgreSQL databases, enabling reliable business services and supporting strategic modernization initiatives.

Our client, an IT Services and Consulting company, is looking for a AWS Cloud & Database Migration Engineer for their Plano, TX/Hybrid location.
 
Responsibilities:

• Architect scalable and secure AWS Cloud environments that support critical business applications while optimizing infrastructure reliability and operational efficiency for global stakeholders.
• Implement and refine AWS DevOps practices including automation of build, test, and deployment pipelines to accelerate delivery cycles and improve overall software quality.
• Administer and tune PostgreSQL databases to ensure high availability, optimal performance, and robust data integrity for transactional and analytical workloads.
• Manage Oracle database environments by performing configuration, monitoring, and performance optimization activities to support stable and efficient business operations.
• Develop infrastructure as code solutions using industry standard tooling on AWS to enable repeatable environment provisioning and reduce configuration drift across platforms.
• Establish and maintain comprehensive backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies for PostgreSQL and Oracle databases to safeguard business critical data assets.
• Monitor cloud and database environments proactively using observability tools to detect issues early and coordinate timely remediation that minimizes service disruption.
• Collaborate with application and security teams to design solutions that align with cloud governance policies, data protection standards, and compliance requirements.
• Provide detailed technical guidance and mentoring to project teams on AWS DevOps automation, cloud best practices, and database administration techniques to uplift overall capability.
• Analyze production incidents related to AWS infrastructure and databases, identify root causes, and implement sustainable improvements that reduce recurrence and operational risk.
• Create and maintain detailed technical documentation covering architectures, deployment processes, runbooks, and database operating procedures to support consistent execution.
• Engage with business and product teams to translate functional needs into robust cloud and data solutions that enhance customer experience and organizational resilience.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost optimization, performance enhancement, and security hardening across AWS Cloud and managed database platforms.

 
Requirements:

• Sr Consultant for a global organization responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing cloud native solutions using AWS DevOps practices and robust database administration.
• The role focuses on secure, scalable, and resilient platforms across AWS Cloud with Oracle and PostgreSQL databases, enabling reliable business services and supporting strategic modernization initiatives.
• Experience: 10 to 13 Yrs
• Strong hands-on PostgreSQL development and administration experience Database migration experience, preferably Oracle, SQL Server, or MySQL to PostgreSQL Strong SQL, database design, query optimization, performance tuning, and execution plan analysis Experience with ETL, data transformation, validation, backup/restore, replication, and high availability Cloud engineering experience with AWS and/or Azure Experience with Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, deployment automation, cloud networking, monitoring, and security Experience supporting enterprise-scale, business-critical database migration and modernization initiatives
• Demonstrate extensive hands on experience in AWS Cloud services and DevOps practices including automation of deployments, configuration management, and continuous integration workflows.
• Possess advanced practical expertise in PostgreSQL database administration covering installation, configuration, performance tuning, high availability, and routine maintenance operations.
• Bring solid experience in Oracle database administration including monitoring, capacity planning, backup strategies, and optimization of complex queries and schemas.
• Show proven ability to operate effectively in a hybrid work environment during day shift while managing priorities across multiple projects and stakeholders.
• Exhibit strong proficiency in troubleshooting cloud infrastructure and database issues using diagnostic tools and structured root cause analysis techniques.
• Display capability to write clear technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge artifacts that support smooth handovers and standardized operations.
