ABOUT THE ROLEA global financial services organization is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Internal Audit Business Audit to join its Internal Audit function in New Jersey. This is a hands-on audit execution role offering broad exposure across business, financial, operational, and enterprise risk areas.
The role is designed for an experienced internal auditor who can independently execute complex audits and pivot across different subject areas rather than specialize in one narrow audit vertical. Coverage may include credit risk, liquidity risk, model risk, third-party risk management, enterprise risk, data analytics, and operational risk.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Execute complex business and operational audits from planning through completion.
- Perform detailed audit testing and prepare high-quality workpapers and supporting documentation.
- Develop audit test strategies and procedures based on identified risks and controls.
- Draft audit findings and clearly communicate control weaknesses and recommendations.
- Validate remediation of internal audit and regulatory issues.
- Track management remediation activities and assess whether corrective actions adequately address identified risks.
- Evaluate internal controls, risk management practices, and governance processes across multiple business areas.
- Provide subject matter expertise during integrated operational and business audits.
- Adapt audit procedures and testing approaches as risks and business priorities evolve.
- Develop effective relationships with stakeholders across the organization.
- Monitor business and regulatory developments to identify emerging risks and potential control issues.
- Contribute to improvements in audit methodology, testing practices, and overall audit quality.
- Maintain audit documentation in accordance with internal standards and IIA guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor s degree required.
- 5+ years of relevant internal audit experience required;5 7+ years preferred.
- Internal audit experience within financial services, banking, or another regulated financial institution strongly preferred.
- Experience executing audits across financial, operational, or enterprise risk areas.
- Ability to work across multiple audit topics rather than operating within a single specialty.
- Strong understanding of internal controls, risk management, governance, and audit methodology.
- Experience interacting with stakeholders at multiple levels of management.
- Knowledge of financial services regulatory requirements, including FRBNY expectations, preferred.
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality audit documentation.
- CPA, CIA, ACA, ACCA, CMIIA, or comparable professional certification is desirable.
- No direct people management experience is required.
