    MANTECH seeks a highly talented Launch Vehicle Avionics & Flight Software Engineer with experience related to Launch Vehicle (LV) systems to join our team in Cape Canaveral, FL.

    This position supports the United States Space Force (USSF) System Delta 80 New Entrant Launch Operations Division in redefining the future of National Security Space Launch (NSSL).

    Responsibilities include but not limited to:

    • Provide LV systems senior engineering expertise at the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, FL customer site across GNC and Mission Analysis, Mission Assurance, or Launch Operations.

    • Plan, coordinate, participate in, and facilitate Engineering Boards while providing risk assessments and technical recommendations.

    • Perform structures and mechanical systems engineering functions, including requirements definition, design review, test review, pedigree, hardware acceptance, performance assessment, verification, operations, and post-flight analyses.

    • Prepare customer teams for and directly support launch contractor reviews, audits, site walkdowns, rehearsals, launch operations, and anomaly resolution processes.

    • Perform technical and engineering data management, such as data mining and reporting, while keeping proprietary information separate and protected. Prepare weekly and periodic technical evaluations, reports, and briefings for USSF customers, Chief Engineer briefings, and Weekly Status Reviews.

    • Collaborate with The Aerospace Corporation, new Launch Contractors (LCs), launch site personnel, and production/supplier personnel as needed.

    • Demonstrated ability to assess requirements, design drawings, processes, and procedures for engineering systems, perform risk assessments, mitigation planning, design/test reviews, and failure analysis.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical) or STEM field, or 1.5 years of relevant experience in lieu of each 1 year of education/degree requirement.

    • 12+ years of launch systems structures and mechanical systems engineering, technical program management, or related experience.

    • 3+ years of NSSL, Launch/Range, Department of Defense, NASA, or industry-equivalent launch/space systems project engineering experience.

    • Knowledge and experience with LV systems (liquid propellant rocket engines, ordnance, hydraulics, in-flight avionics, ground support equipment, structures, composite materials) with strong GNC hardware design and test experience.

    • Knowledge of USSF and NASA launch and range systems, operations, LV design, processing, integration, testing, launch, and anomaly resolution.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Familiarity with space, launch, and safety standards, as well as experience with USSF, NASA, National Reconnaissance Office, and Launch Contractors.

    • Experience with agile software products, including Warp Core, Jira, Confluence, MS Office Suite, SharePoint, Google Workspace, and IT systems.

    • Demonstrated ability to create and deliver articulate written and verbal presentations to senior engineers and management.

    • Previous project management experience.

    Clearance Requirements:

    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance; clearance is not required to start.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.

    • Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, and other office equipment.

    • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.

    • Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations, and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
