Position Summary

Supervise, plan and coordinates the installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and enhancement of airport operational technology (OT) systems and supporting infrastructure. Provides technical leadership for Aviation Department electronic, communications, security, and information systems, including wired and wireless networks, Internet of Things (IoT) devices, Physical Access control systems, video surveillance systems, public address systems, fire alarm interfaces, automated door systems, radio communications, and airport information display systems. Ensures compliance with applicable airport regulations, security requirements, industry standards, and operational objectives while overseeing technical staff, contractors, and system lifecycle management activities.

Essential and Supplemental Functions

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential functions may include but are not limited to the functions listed below. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

• Supervise, plan and coordinate the installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and replacement of Aviation Department operational technology systems, network-connected devices, electronic equipment, and communications infrastructure, including wired and wireless IoT devices, IP-based systems, serial communication systems, and computerized control systems.
• Manage and oversee airport operational systems, including access control systems, video surveillance systems, public address systems, fire alarm systems, station alerting systems, two-way radio communications, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) systems, automated security doors, and networked devices.
• Oversee and direct staff in the analysis, design, implementation, integration, maintenance, and enhancement of operational technology systems, ensuring work meets applicable standards, specification, and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance activities for airport operational systems, including Flight Information Display Systems (FIDS), Gate Information Display Systems (GIDS), Baggage Information Display Systems (BIDS), video surveillance systems, access control systems, automated security doors, and associated network infrastructure.
• Install, modify, troubleshoot, and repair of fire alarm systems and associated integrations with access control, video surveillance, public address, and other airport operational systems.
• Analyze system performance, identify operational issues, and implement corrective actions to ensure reliability, security, and continuity of critical airport systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, schematics, wiring diagrams, technical specifications, and verbal instructions related to the installation and modification of electronic and mechanical systems.
• Assist in the development of technical specifications, standards, and requirements for operational technology systems, equipment, and infrastructure projects.
• Select, train, motivate, and evaluate personnel; provide or coordinate staff training; working with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures
• Coordinate with contractors, consultants, vendors, and airport stakeholders during construction, maintenance, and technology implementation projects.
• Perform inspections of contractor work to verify compliance with project specifications, airport standards, applicable codes, and regulatory requirements; prepare and maintain service requests, work orders, maintenance records, and repair histories for operational technology systems and equipment.
• Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, system modifications, equipment inventories, and maintenance activities; prepare reports and recommendations related to equipment lifecycle management, system performance, replacement planning, and capital improvement needs.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, technical documentation, user guides, instructional materials, and training manuals.
• Coordinate and conduct technical training, user education programs, problem-solving sessions, and system orientation activities for staff and system users.
• Ensure all work activities comply with applicable federal, state, local, airport, and industry regulations, standards, and security requirements.
• Oversee, troubleshoot and maintain Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) units and Perform battery replacement to ensure UPS uptime for IT and OT systems.

Supplemental Functions:

• Attend industry seminars, training programs, and professional group meeting to stay abreast of current and emerging technologies, trends, and best practices related to airport operational technology systems.
• Assist in the planning, coordination, and implementation of multi-departmental and multi-agency technology projects.
• Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements

Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.

Bachelors degree from accredited college or university in electronics engineering, information systems, or computer science; and

Three (3) year of experience in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, or administration of operational technology systems, electronic systems, communication systems, security systems, or network infrastructures; and

To include two (2) years of supervisory experience

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a valid New Mexico Drivers License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.

Possession of a City Operators Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.

Must be able to successfully qualify for and maintain a Sunport Access Control Card as determined by the criteria set forth by the policies and guidelines of the Aviation Department and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

Successful completion of a security background check conducted by U.S. Customs & Border Protection, if applicable.

May be required to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

Working Conditions

Environmental:

Office field/airport environment; exposure to computer screens, electrical and radiant energy, low voltage, noise, dust, grease, fumes, moving objects, inclement weather conditions; work may be performed in confined spaces, slippery or uneven surfaces, on scaffolding and ladders; travel from site to site.

Physical:

Essential and supplemental functions may require indoor and outdoor environment; physical condition necessary for; moderate or light lifting; for walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping; kneeling crawling for prolonged periods of time.
