AVD Virtualization Engineer

Location: Wayne, PA or Plano, TX

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced AVD Virtualization Engineer with strong hands-on engineering experience designing, building, deploying, and enhancing Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments.

This role is focused on engineering and platform development, rather than primarily operational or administrative support. The ideal candidate will have experience building AVD environments, implementing platform improvements, resolving complex architectural issues, and driving scalability and performance enhancements in enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, deploy, and enhance Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments.

• Implement new functionality, platform improvements, and architecture enhancements.

• Develop scalable AVD solutions for large enterprise environments.

• Troubleshoot complex AVD and Azure infrastructure issues.

• Make technical recommendations based on previous AVD deployment and engineering experience.

• Deploy and configure AVD host pools, session hosts, application groups, and workspaces.

• Support AVD scalability, performance, reliability, and capacity improvements.

• Work with FSLogix profile containers and troubleshoot performance and storage-related issues.

• Support gold image creation and maintenance.

• Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, security, endpoint, and other technical teams.

• Improve deployment processes, automation, documentation, and overall platform reliability.
  
  Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on AVD engineering experience.

• Proven experience designing, building, implementing, or significantly enhancing AVD environments.

• Experience installing and implementing AVD solutions.

• Experience supporting environments with 2,000+ concurrent users.

• Strong experience with Azure Virtual Desktop architecture and deployment.

• Experience with Azure infrastructure services, including compute, networking, and storage.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Experience engineering platform improvements, scalability initiatives, or architectural enhancements.

• Important

  Candidates whose experience is primarily limited to AVD administration, monitoring, help desk, or day-to-day operational support will not be a strong fit.
