    About the Role
    This position supports classroom and event technology across a dedicated zone of academic spaces, acting as the go-to resource for audio-visual needs. The specialist consults directly with instructors to understand their technology needs and helps implement solutions that fit their teaching style. Day-to-day work includes troubleshooting equipment, supporting recorded and digitized course content, and assisting with campus events that require AV setup. The role also involves documentation, inventory tracking, and light supervision of student staff. It's a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys variety, direct interaction with faculty and staff, and a mix of routine support with occasional large-scale event coordination.
    Responsibilities

    • Support classroom technology within an assigned zone of approximately 35 rooms, serving as the first point of contact for issues
    • Perform tier-1 troubleshooting, maintenance, and documentation for AV equipment
    • Set up, operate, and break down AV equipment for events in academic and large venue spaces
    • Work a flexible schedule, including occasional weekends
    • Meet with faculty to understand classroom and instructional technology needs
    • Recommend and implement technology solutions that support teaching goals and work well within existing classroom systems
    • Serve as a primary resource on audio-visual technology, offering training and guidance on equipment use
    • Coordinate course support activities, including digitizing older materials, recording lectures, and assisting with course management and presentation software
    • Communicate technical, infrastructure, and operational issues to the appropriate internal teams or outside service providers
    • Stay current on audio-visual technology trends and apply that knowledge to day-to-day support
    • Plan and carry out AV support for campus events, coordinating with other internal and external technology partners as needed
    • Create and update internal documentation covering system specs and usage, and log service requests and issues in tracking systems
    • Maintain an accurate equipment inventory for the assigned zone, including maintenance and repair records
    • Supervise and coordinate the work of student assistants
