We are seeking an experienced and hands-on AV Fleet Technician II to maintain the operational readiness and high-precision standards of our autonomous vehicle (AV) fleet. In this role, you will perform sensor calibrations, hardware validation, software provisioning, and intermediate technical diagnostics. Working entirely onsite, you will independently resolve known technical issues, mentor and support Technician I contractors, and ensure our vehicles are safely and rapidly restored to service.
Sensor Calibration & Testing: Execute and troubleshoot precise camera, LiDAR, radar, and IMU calibration workflows to ensure optimal sensor performance.
Diagnostics & Troubleshooting: Diagnose common sensor faults, harness and connectivity issues, and calibration failures using systematic approaches.
Hardware Maintenance: Perform hardware replacements, component checks, and rigorous validation tests.
Fleet Monitoring & Support: Monitor incoming alerts and support tickets, coordinate with remote engineering teams, and minimize vehicle downtime.
Linux System Administration: Independently use Linux CLI tools (such as SSH, SCP, systemctl, journalctl, ip, and ping) to diagnose connectivity, service, and system issues. Review logs, execute diagnostic scripts, and perform software/firmware provisioning.
Technical Leadership: Document findings accurately, provide guidance to Technician I contractors, and escalate complex or undocumented failures to Technician III or engineering teams.
Driver’s License: Valid driver's license required.
Experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience in hardware maintenance, electronics troubleshooting, robotics, automotive electronics, or a comparable technical field.
Linux Proficiency: Working proficiency with the Linux command line interface (CLI), including remote access, log analysis, service management, network diagnostics, and running Bash/Python scripts for troubleshooting and validation.
Technical Literacy: Demonstrated ability to interpret complex diagnostic outputs, schematics, and technical documentation.
Provisioning & Validation: Prior experience with software/firmware provisioning and hardware validation testing.
Familiarity with AV/ADAS systems, robotics, LiDAR, radar, cameras, GPS/IMU, or CAN bus architectures.
Experience working with Automotive Ethernet, FAKRA connectors, and complex wiring harnesses.
Onsite Requirement: This role is entirely onsite at a local warehouse, depot, or garage facility.
Physical Activity: Moderate physical activity is required, including lifting up to 40 lbs, bending, standing, and working directly around vehicles and calibration rigs.
Schedule Flexibility: May require alternative shifts or weekend coverage based on dynamic fleet operational schedules.
