Key Project Requirements:
- 5+ years of power plant operations and maintenance experience, including combustion/gas turbine operations.
- Hands-on Auxiliary Operator experience performing field rounds, equipment operation, plant startup/shutdown, and response to abnormal operating conditions.
- Experience with balance-of-plant equipment, electrical systems, controls, LOTO, and basic mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting.
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Auxiliary Operator to provide operations support at a gas turbine power generation facility in Wisconsin. The Auxiliary Operator will monitor and operate plant equipment, conduct field rounds, support unit startups and shutdowns, respond to alarms and abnormal conditions, and perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting activities. Qualified personnel may also support Control Room Operator duties as needed. This position requires flexibility to adjust work hours based on unit dispatch and operating requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with the startup, operation, and shutdown of gas turbines and balance-of-plant equipment.
- Monitor plant systems and equipment, conduct field rounds, identify abnormal conditions, and communicate issues to the Control Room Operator and plant leadership.
- Operate plant equipment in accordance with dispatch requirements, operating procedures, safety requirements, and environmental permits.
- Respond to alarms, equipment issues, and abnormal or emergency operating conditions and take appropriate corrective action.
- Support Control Room Operator duties (if qualified) including monitoring plant conditions and assisting with gas turbine load control.
- Perform basic mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation troubleshooting and preventive/predictive maintenance activities.
- Operate breakers and switchgear, including opening, closing, racking, and resetting equipment in accordance with plant procedures.
- Execute plant safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined-space requirements, and contractor safety activities.
Job Requirements:
- Working knowledge of gas turbine and balance-of-plant systems, plant startup/shutdown procedures, and power plant operating practices.
- Experience with mechanical equipment, electrical systems, instrumentation, controls, and basic troubleshooting.
- Ability to interpret equipment drawings, operating procedures, system descriptions, and technical documentation.
- Ability to work independently and safely in an operating power plant environment, including confined spaces and around high-voltage equipment.
Education / Experience:
- 5+ years of power plant operations and maintenance experience, including combustion/gas turbine operations; GE 7FA experience a plus.
- Experience assisting in the control room or performing Control Room Operator duties is a plus.
