Description

We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Automotive Test & Prototype Technician to support the testing, troubleshooting, and assembly of advanced automotive steering components, electronic control units (ECUs), and electrical drive systems. In this role, you will combine mechanical assembly with electrical diagnostics and precision measurement tools in a fast-paced prototype and testing environment.Key ResponsibilitiesElectrical Diagnostics & Testing: Perform electrical checks, measurements, and root-cause troubleshooting on steering ECUs, electric motors, and associated electrical systems.Component Rework & Benchtop Operations: Flashing software, performing NVM dumps, and executing JTAG soldering and coating removal.Mechanical & ECU Teardowns: Carefully remove, inspect, and install covers, drive motors, ECUs, and sub-assemblies.Failure Analysis: Measure MOSFET/DC link values and identify motor shorts or electrical faults.Quality Inspections: Execute precision quality checks on steering columns, steering gears, and intermediate shafts (I-shafts).Tool & Equipment Operation: Use precision measurement tools including micrometers, calipers, thread gages, and Go/No-Go gages; maintain tool calibration and tracking logs.Prototype Support: Actively support prototype builds, product teardowns, rework initiatives, and validation testing.Key Qualifications & BackgroundsExperience: Hands-on experience in automotive testing, electrical troubleshooting, prototype builds, or precision mechanical/electronics assembly.Technical Skills: Strong proficiency with electrical diagnostic checks, component-level soldering/rework (JTAG), and reading schematics or assembly guides.Measurement Proficiency: Demonstrated skill using precision inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, thread gages, Go/No-Go gages).Target Backgrounds: Ideal candidates may come from roles such as Automotive Technician, Electrical/Electronics Technician, Test/Prototype Technician, Quality Inspector, Engineering Technician, or CNC/Mechanical Specialist with strong electrical troubleshooting skills.Key AttributesStrong hands-on mechanical and electrical aptitude.Comfortable working in a dynamic prototype, teardown, and lab testing environment.High attention to detail and quality standards during component handling.What We OfferCompetitive hourly rate / salary package.Comprehensive health, vision, and dental insurance.401(k) retirement options and paid time off (PTO).Hands-on exposure to cutting-edge automotive technologies and career development.#OS123To apply, please submit your resume along with a summary of your hands-on electrical and mechanical troubleshooting experience.
