We are seeking highly motivated and experienced Heavy Truck/Equipment and Diesel Technicians (Mechanics) to join our award-winning team. This position is responsible for performing repairs, routine maintenance, and statutory inspections on the City's diverse fleet of heavy vehicles and construction equipment.

Required Qualifications
Vocational/Educational Requirement: Requires high school diploma or GED/HSE.
Experience:
Automotive Technician I: In addition to satisfying the vocational/educational standard, this class requires a minimum of one year of closely related, full-time equivalent experience.
Automotive Technician II: In addition to satisfying the vocational/educational standard, this class requires a minimum of two years of closely related, full-time equivalent experience.
Special Certifications and Licenses:
Automotive Technician I: Requires a valid driver's license and a driving record that is in compliance with City Driving Standards. Must be able to obtain a Class A CDL and ASE Certification within probationary period. Must be able to obtain a Class A CDL, Refrigeration Recovery and Storage Certification, basic Automotive Tire Service (ATS) within 12 months of hire.
Automotive Technician II: Requires a valid driver's license and a driving record that is in compliance with City Driving Standards. Must be able to obtain a Class A CDL and ASE Certification within probationary period.
Special Requirements: Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Emergency operations support work and work locations may be outside of normal job duties.

This position is eligible for a $3000 sign-on bonus, a $4000 CDL stipend, $2500 heavy tech stipend, ASE stipend, as well as a $1050 tool allowance.
Depending on qualifications and experience, you may be selected for either an Automotive Technician I or II.

In accordance with City policy, this position is deemed safety-sensitive. As such, applicants for this position are subject to pre-employment drug/alcohol testing after receiving a conditional offer of employment and may also be subject to random testing.
