Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic testing to accurately identify vehicle malfunctions and determine necessary repairs.
  • Executes engine repair and maintenance tasks, ensuring optimal performance and longevity.
  • Services and repairs brake systems, including hydraulic components, calipers, and pads, to ensure vehicle safety.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs complex electrical systems, addressing wiring, sensors, and electronic control units.
  • Conducts comprehensive preventive maintenance services, including oil changes, fluid checks, and filter replacements.
  • Performs thorough vehicle inspection to identify potential issues and recommend necessary services.
  • Utilizes computer diagnostics tools and software to interpret data and pinpoint vehicle problems.
  • Repairs and maintains suspension systems, including shocks, struts, and linkages, for improved ride comfort and handling.
  • Services and adjusts steering systems, ensuring precise control and driver safety.
  • Diagnoses and repairs HVAC repair issues, restoring heating and cooling functionality.
  • Communicates effectively with service advisors regarding vehicle status, repair needs, and estimated completion times.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Possesses a high school diploma or GED.
  • Completes vocational training or certification in automotive technology.

Experience

  • Holds a minimum of 3 years of experience as an Automotive Service Technician.
  • Demonstrates a proven track record of successful vehicle diagnosis and repair.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Applies strong knowledge of diagnostic testing methodologies.
  • Exhibits proficiency in engine repair and rebuilding.
  • Understands and effectively services brake systems.
  • Possesses expertise in troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems.
  • Performs comprehensive preventive maintenance.
  • Conducts thorough vehicle inspection processes.
  • Utilizes computer diagnostics software and equipment.
  • Applies knowledge of suspension systems and repair techniques.
  • Understands and services steering systems.
  • Performs HVAC repair and refrigerant handling.
  • Demonstrates strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Communicates technical information clearly and professionally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Holds ASE certifications (e.g., A1-A8, L1).
  • Possesses experience with specific vehicle manufacturers or advanced diagnostic tools.

Physical Requirements/Work Conditions

  • Lifts and moves heavy objects, often exceeding 50 pounds.
  • Stands, walks, bends, stoops, and kneels for extended periods.
  • Works in various environmental conditions, including heat, cold, and noise.
  • Operates hand and power tools with precision and safety.
  • Tolerates exposure to vehicle fumes, oils, and chemicals.
