Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-6:00 PM; approximately 40 hours per week

Introduction

We are seeking an experienced Automotive Service Advisor in Metuchen, NJ for a long-established independent repair facility serving the community for approximately 68 years. This salaried position pays $60,000-$90,000+ per year (depending on experience) and offers a Monday-Friday schedule. The shop services a diverse mix of general automotive, light truck, fleet, and school bus vehicles in a relationship-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Write and manage repair orders and service tickets from intake through completion.
• Prepare repair estimates and final invoices.
• Communicate with customers about vehicle concerns, recommended repairs, and service updates.
• Dispatch work to technicians and coordinate daily repair workflow.
• Support shop management with day-to-day workflow and operational needs.
• Assist with parts pickup, customer transportation, and vehicle transport as needed.
• Perform minor vehicle-related tasks when needed, such as plugging tires, replacing wiper blades, and replacing bulbs.
• Help keep repair jobs moving efficiently while supporting customers and the shop team.

Qualifications

• Automotive industry experience is required, with approximately 2-5+ years preferred.
• Experience writing automotive repair orders or service tickets is required.
• Understanding of the complete automotive service-writing process.
• Independent repair shop experience is strongly preferred.
• Dealership experience will be considered, particularly when combined with independent repair shop experience.
• Experienced automotive technicians transitioning into a Service Advisor role may be considered with repair-order writing and customer-facing experience.
• Ability to support customer communication, repair workflow, technician dispatching, and daily shop operations.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $60,000-$90,000+ per year (depending on experience / skills).
