Performs routine and preventive maintenance on equipment, vehicles and other components; inspects accessory equipment; pumps fuel into vehicles; checks levels and tops-off or replaces fluids; drains/replaces oil; collects/recovers Freon; replaces filters; lubricates mechanical parts; installs/replaces wiper blades; rotates tires; belts, and hoses; checks batteries; flushes radiators; and performs alignments. Inspects, tests and repairs ignition systems, computerized engine controls, electronic fuel injection systems, steering systems, electrical systems, suspension systems, hydraulic systems, brake systems, driver train systems, engine cooling systems, fuel systems, charging systems, starting systems, emission systems, air bag restraint systems, and/or air conditioning systems; repairs tires and wheels; and removes and replaces heavy equipment tires that are flat or unsafe. Communicates with parts department, supervisor, County employees, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, understand issues or concerns with equipment, and train/demonstrate proper usage and functions of equipment; performs other related duties as required. High school diploma or GED required, with vocational or technical training in automotive maintenance and repair; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina Driver"s License. Must possess and maintain Automotive Service Excellence certification. Any ASE certification a plus. Must have tools
