Ray & Dana's Inman Auto Care is looking for an experienced Automotive Master Technician / A-Tech to join our team.
Master Technicians are hard to find, and we know that. If you're an experienced technician who can diagnose problems, think beyond the parts replacement, take pride in doing the job right, and wants to work somewhere that values both its customers and its technicians, we'd like to meet you.
This is not an entry-level technician position. We're looking for an experienced A-Tech / Master Technician / Automotive Technician who is confident working independently, diagnosing complex vehicle problems and helping maintain the high standard of work our customers have come to expect.
Why This Opportunity Is Different:
There comes a point in your career when you have to ask yourself:
- Are you being fairly compensated for what you know?
- Do you have an opportunity to grow?
- Do you have a good work-life balance?
- Does your employer actually stand behind its values?
- Are you tired of working somewhere that cares more about selling the job than fixing the customer's vehicle correctly?
At Ray & Dana's, our philosophy is simple:
No sale is more important than the customer.
Our mission is to continually grow our business by providing quality automotive repair while delivering best-in-class customer service. The relationships we build with our customers are the foundation of our success.
We want our technicians to be proud of where they work, proud of the repairs they perform, and confident that they have a team behind them.
The Role:
As an Automotive Master Technician / A-Tech, you will be responsible for accurately diagnosing, repairing and maintaining domestic, Asian and European vehicles.
You will be expected to use your experience, diagnostic skills and technical knowledge to identify the root cause of vehicle concerns—not simply replace parts until the problem goes away.
Responsibilities:
- Perform advanced automotive diagnostics and repairs.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and drivability concerns.
- Use computerized diagnostic equipment and scan tools to identify vehicle problems.
- Perform diagnostic testing and accurately interpret test results.
- Complete complex mechanical repairs and maintenance.
- Diagnose check-engine lights and other vehicle warning systems.
- Perform brake, suspension, steering, cooling, starting, and charging system repairs.
- Diagnose and repair engine and transmission-related concerns.
- Perform vehicle inspections and identify safety and maintenance concerns.
- Follow manufacturer repair procedures and industry best practices.
- Complete repairs accurately and efficiently while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
- Communicate diagnostic findings and repair recommendations with the service team.
- Work independently while contributing to a team environment.
- Help support and mentor other technicians when needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area.
- Take ownership of the quality of your work and the safety of the vehicles you service.
What We're Looking For:
Required:
- 7+ years of professional automotive repair experience.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting ability.
- Experience diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and drivability problems.
- Strong understanding of modern vehicle systems.
- Comfortable using professional scan tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently.
- Own professional hand and power tools.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
- Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred:
- ASE Master Technician certification.
- ASE certifications in multiple automotive repair areas.
- Experience working on domestic, Asian, and European vehicles
- NJ State Inspection experience.
- Experience with advanced diagnostic equipment and computerized vehicle systems.
- Ability and willingness to mentor less-experienced technicians.
ASE certification is a plus, but not required. We believe in investing in good technicians and will support continued training and certification.
What We Offer:
- Monday–Friday Schedule.
- 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.
- No Saturdays. No Sundays.
- We believe experienced technicians deserve a predictable schedule and time outside of work.
Benefits:
- Competitive compensation.
- Hybrid or hourly pay plan options.
- 401(k) retirement plan with company match.
- Health insurance — 100% company-paid for individual coverage.
- Paid vacation.
- Paid sick days.
- Paid holidays.
- Company-paid uniforms.
- Paid training.
- Professional development assistance.
- ASE certification support.
- Clean, professional shop environment.
- Experienced team that wants you to succeed.
- Opportunity for continued professional growth.
