AUTOMOTIVE GENERAL MANAGER EXPERIENCED DEALERSHIP LEADER WANTED

HIGH-LEVEL GENERAL MANAGER OPPORTUNITY AUTOMOTIVE DEALERSHIP EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

We are seeking an accomplished, highly motivated Automotive General Manager with a proven track record of successfully operating and growing franchised automotive dealerships.

This is not an entry-level management opportunity. We are looking for a true dealership operator who understands every aspect of the business from variable operations and F&I to fixed operations, inventory, financial statements, expense control, CSI, employee development, and overall dealership profitability.

The successful candidate will have the experience, leadership ability, financial knowledge, and operational discipline necessary to take complete ownership of dealership performance.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum 10 years of automotive dealership management experience

  • Significant experience running and operating franchised automotive dealerships

  • Proven General Manager, Operating Partner, or comparable senior dealership leadership experience

  • Demonstrated history of increasing sales, gross profit, fixed-operations performance, and overall dealership profitability

  • Strong understanding of both variable and fixed operations

  • Import-brand experience is a strong plus but not required

  • NADA Academy graduate preferred, but not required for candidates with substantial proven dealership experience

  • Strong understanding of dealership financial statements, forecasting, budgeting, and expense control

  • Proven ability to recruit, develop, motivate, and retain high-performing management teams

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assume complete responsibility for the dealership's overall operations and financial performance

  • Establish monthly and annual objectives for sales, gross profit, net profit, expenses, CSI, inventory, and departmental performance

  • Manage and hold accountable department leaders across Sales, F&I, Service, Parts, BDC/Internet, and Used Vehicles

  • Review dealership financial statements and departmental performance regularly

  • Identify opportunities to increase revenue, improve gross, reduce unnecessary expenses, and increase net profitability

  • Drive new- and used-vehicle sales performance while maintaining proper inventory levels and turn

  • Maximize F&I production, penetration, and profitability while maintaining compliance

  • Develop fixed operations to maximize service absorption, technician productivity, customer-pay business, parts performance, and retention

  • Recruit, hire, train, coach, and develop dealership management personnel

  • Establish a culture of accountability, professionalism, teamwork, and performance

  • Monitor market conditions and adjust inventory, pricing, advertising, staffing, and operating strategies accordingly

  • Maintain strong relationships with manufacturers, lenders, vendors, and business partners

  • Ensure compliance with manufacturer standards and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations

  • Maintain and improve CSI and overall customer satisfaction

  • Develop and execute dealership marketing and advertising strategies

  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels throughout all departments

  • Conduct management meetings and establish measurable performance expectations

  • Work directly with ownership and executive leadership on dealership strategy and long-term growth

THE PERSON WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We want a proven automotive operator, not simply someone ready for their first GM position.

The ideal candidate knows how to walk into a dealership, analyze the financial statement, identify where money is being made and lost, evaluate personnel, understand inventory, improve processes, develop department managers, and execute a plan that produces measurable results.

You should be equally comfortable discussing:

Sales Volume Gross Profit Net Profit Inventory Turn F&I Service Absorption Technician Productivity Parts CSI Advertising Payroll Expense Control Forecasting Manufacturer Relations

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Exceptional leadership and people-management skills

  • Strong financial and analytical ability

  • Excellent understanding of dealership accounting and financial statements

  • Proven ability to build and manage high-performing teams

  • Strong knowledge of automotive retail operations and current dealership technology

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills

  • Professional appearance and executive-level presence

  • High level of integrity and business ethics

  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

NADA ACADEMY

NADA Academy graduates are strongly encouraged to apply.

NADA Academy training is preferred because of its emphasis on dealership financial management, leadership, variable operations, fixed operations, and overall dealership performance.

However, NADA Academy graduation is not mandatory. A candidate with extensive, verifiable success operating franchised dealerships will receive full consideration.

THIS POSITION IS FOR A PROVEN DEALERSHIP OPERATOR

We are looking for someone who understands that a General Manager is ultimately responsible for the entire store.

People. Process. Sales. Service. Gross. Expenses. CSI. Net Profit.

If you have 10+ years of dealership leadership experience, a documented record of producing results, and the ability to lead an automotive dealership at the highest level, we want to speak with you.
