Role Summary

Ourisman Automotive Group is seeking a Data Engineer to join a small, talented development and product team, reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer. You will recommend and help implement core architectural decisions for data ingestion, quality, auditability, and governance. As we expand our data lake, your work will make clean, timely, and trustworthy data available to thousands of internal users through exports, reporting dashboards, and MCP.

Essential Duties

• Data Management & Wrangling

• Build, monitor, and maintain reliable data ingestion pipelines using Fivetran or Dagster.
• Implement data quality checks and monitoring to identify issues with accuracy, completeness, consistency, and timeliness.
• Join data sets from multiple sources to produce more insightful data products
• Load data into Snowflake and DOMO
• Expose data via MCP
• Establish and enforce governance of new data sets
• Maintain data dictionaries for all data

• Data Analysis & Modeling

• Develop, test, document, and maintain data transformation models using dbt.
• Define data sets for reporting and operational and financial systems
• Perform ad hoc analysis to support business needs
• Build and maintain dashboards

Qualifications, Background and/or Experience

• 2-4 years in data engineering
• Strong background in data and software architecture
• Ability to write, review, test, and maintain high-quality production code, including effective use of AI coding agents.
• Detail-oriented, strong with numbers

• Advanced SQL skills and proficiency in Python or a comparable programming language.
• Experience with dimensional data modeling, cloud data warehouses, ELT orchestration, automated testing, and version control.
• Experience designing observable, reliable data pipelines and troubleshooting production data issues.

Work Environment

• This is a hybrid role that requires regular, active engagement with stores across the platform, including rotational in-person visits and meetings. Frequent travel between stores in the DMV region is required.

Salary

• $100,000 - $130,000
• Salary is determined by skills, qualifications, depth of experience and location.
