    Automotive Center Manager – Naperville, IL

    Founded in 1978, Grease Monkey® operates more than 600 locations worldwide and is one of the nation’s largest independent franchisors of automotive maintenance centers.
    Our Naperville location is part of a locally owned and growing five-location Grease Monkey franchise group. We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Center Manager who can lead employees, deliver outstanding customer service, and drive the center’s performance and profitability.

    Position Overview

    The Center Manager is responsible for the center’s overall operation, including customer satisfaction, employee leadership, sales, labor management, inventory control, safety, and facility maintenance.

    The ideal candidate is a strong leader who is comfortable working directly with customers and employees while maintaining high operational standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    Customer Service and Sales

    • Deliver an exceptional customer experience and promote customer retention.
    • Clearly explain recommended services and help customers make informed decisions.
    • Coach employees on professional service presentation and sales techniques.
    • Resolve customer concerns and claims promptly and professionally.
    • Develop relationships with local businesses and solicit fleet accounts.
    Employee Leadership

    • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and develop center employees.
    • Set clear expectations and regularly evaluate employee performance.
    • Address employee concerns and administer corrective action when necessary.
    • Prepare schedules that provide proper coverage while controlling labor costs.
    • Ensure accurate timekeeping and compliance with company policies.
    • Conduct ongoing training on products, services, procedures, safety, and customer service.
    Center Operations

    • Ensure all services are performed properly, safely, and efficiently.
    • Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly sales, labor, inventory, and performance reports.
    • Oversee cash-register procedures, credit-card processing, and deposit accuracy.
    • Maintain accurate records and complete required weekly and monthly reporting.
    • Order inventory and supplies while controlling costs and preventing shortages.
    • Perform accurate monthly inventory counts.
    • Maintain the cleanliness and professional appearance of the entire property.
    • Ensure tools, equipment, systems, and facilities are properly maintained.
    • Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards.
    • Maintain required safety records, postings, and SDS documentation.
    • Plan and execute local marketing and community-outreach activities.
    Qualifications

    • At least three years of management experience in an automotive service center, quick-lube operation, tire store, repair facility, or comparable retail business.
    • Strong leadership, employee-management, customer-service, and problem-solving skills.
    • Experience managing sales, labor, inventory, and daily business operations.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Comfortable using point-of-sale systems, email, spreadsheets, and other business software.
    • Valid driver’s license and ability to safely operate customer vehicles.
    • Basic knowledge of automotive maintenance and mechanical hand tools.
    • Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and remain professional in a fast-paced environment.
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    Working Conditions

    This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, reaching, crouching, and lifting. The Center Manager will regularly work around vehicles and may be exposed to outdoor temperatures, noise, vehicle exhaust, automotive fluids, and other typical shop conditions.
