Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Automation Technician with hands-on experience in injection molding automation, robot programming, and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, motion control, VFDs, and industrial automation equipment.

Title: Automation Technician
Location: Libertyville, IL

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with molding automation systems, including robots, conveyors, sensors, and vision systems.
  • Program, modify, and optimize molding robots such as Sepro, Fanuc, Yushin, or Wittmann.
  • Troubleshoot robot alarms, faults, sequences, and motion-related issues.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on automation equipment.
  • Replace worn components and calibrate sensors and actuators.
  • Support mold trials, new product launches, and automation setup.
  • Improve automation layouts, workflows, cycle times, and equipment performance.
  • Maintain robot program backups, maintenance records, and technical documentation.
  • Work closely with engineering and maintenance teams to resolve recurring equipment issues.
  • Follow applicable safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in injection molding automation or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with robot programming and troubleshooting.
  • Strong knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, industrial sensors, servo motors, motion control systems, and VFDs.
  • Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Familiarity with EOAT (End-of-Arm Tooling) design and maintenance.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical certification or Associate's degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Industrial Automation, or a related field.
  • Experience with molding automation, packaging, degating, and part-handling applications.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
  • Familiarity with ISO, FDA, and GMP requirements where applicable.
