    Job Title: Automation Technician
    Job Location: Buffalo Grove, IL Onsite
    Job Duration: Full-time/Contract

    Job Summary

    We are seeking a hands-on Automation Technician to support robotic and automated manufacturing equipment in a medical device manufacturing environment. The technician will troubleshoot, maintain, and support industrial robots, EOAT, PLC/HMI-controlled equipment, sensors, pneumatic systems, and related automation equipment.

    Advanced PLC programming and previous medical device, molding, or assembly experience are not required. Any industry background is acceptable when the candidate has strong hands-on industrial robotics and EOAT experience, basic PLC/HMI knowledge, troubleshooting ability, good communication skills, teamwork, and a willingness to learn new equipment.

    Shift Timings:

    • Day Shift: 6:00 AM 6:00 PM
    • Night Shift: 6:00 PM 6:00 AM
    • 12-hour shifts

    Key Responsibilities

    • Operate, set up, troubleshoot, and maintain industrial robotic equipment.
    • Troubleshoot robot alarms, faults, sequences, sensors, grippers, vacuum systems, and related equipment.
    • Perform EOAT setup, adjustments, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
    • Perform basic robot teaching, adjustments, or program modifications based on experience.
    • Support robot recovery and production restart following equipment faults.
    • Assist with improving robot reliability and cycle performance.
    • Use basic PLC knowledge to support equipment troubleshooting.
    • Navigate HMI screens to identify alarms, faults, machine status, and operating conditions.
    • Assist Controls/Automation Engineers with troubleshooting when required.
    • Troubleshoot automated equipment involving industrial robots, EOAT, sensors, actuators, conveyors, pneumatic systems, basic electrical systems, mechanical equipment, and vision systems where applicable.
    • Respond to equipment alarms and breakdowns and clearly communicate findings to Engineering, Maintenance, and Production teams.
    • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on automation equipment.
    • Replace and adjust sensors, actuators, pneumatic components, grippers, and other automation components.
    • Support production startups, equipment changeovers, trials, and new product introductions.
    • Maintain appropriate maintenance and troubleshooting documentation.
    • Support continuous improvement and equipment reliability activities.

    Skills Required

    • Hands-on industrial robotics experience Must Have.
    • Hands-on EOAT experience Must Have.
    • Basic PLC knowledge.
    • Basic HMI knowledge.
    • Basic automation/equipment troubleshooting capability.
    • Good verbal communication skills and ability to clearly explain equipment problems and troubleshooting activities.
    • Strong ability and willingness to learn new equipment and systems.
    • Good problem-solving skills.
    • Strong teamwork and ability to work effectively with technicians, engineers, maintenance, and production personnel.
    • Ability to work onsite and support the required 12-hour shift schedule.
    • Experience with industrial robot platforms such as FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa/Motoman, Sepro, Yushin, Wittmann, Kawasaki, Epson, Universal Robots, Mitsubishi, or equivalent systems.
    • Experience with major PLC platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Omron, Mitsubishi, Schneider, or equivalent systems.
