Full-Time Contract
Title: Automation Technician
Location: Juncos, PR (100% Onsite)
Length of Contract: Six (6) months +
Position Description:
The Automation Technician provides hands-on technical support for manufacturing automation systems in regulated biotechnology environments. The role is responsible for installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, commissioning, and continuous improvement of automation and control systems while ensuring compliance with GMP, and site quality requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Support operation and maintenance of PLC, HMI, SCADA, and Building Management Systems (Client).
- Install, test, calibrate, and troubleshoot instrumentation and control devices.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on automation equipment and systems.
- Execute I/O checks, loop checks, and functional testing during system startup and commissioning activities.
- Troubleshoot PLC programs, networking issues, field devices, and operator interfaces.
- Respond to automation-related alarms and equipment failures to minimize manufacturing downtime.
- Support validation protocols, change controls, and system upgrades.
- Perform root cause analysis and support CAPA implementation.
Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology manufacturing environment.
- 6+ years of experience supporting industrial automation systems.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, P&IDs, and control drawings.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor's or associate degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology) preferred.
