Automation Specialist / Ignition Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Automation Specialist / Ignition Engineer to support commissioning and startup activities for a data center project in Litchfield Park, AZ. This is a hands-on contract opportunity supporting an active project during a critical commissioning phase.

The ideal candidate will have strong Ignition HMI experience, hands-on knowledge of Allen-Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix PLC systems, and the ability to step into the project with minimal ramp-up or training.

Key Responsibilities

• Support PLC/HMI commissioning and startup activities.

• Perform and assist with I/O and loop checks during system commissioning.

• Support chiller and associated mechanical system startups.

• Troubleshoot PLC, HMI, instrumentation, and controls-related issues.

• Work with existing PLC programs and Ignition HMI applications to identify and resolve commissioning issues.

• Coordinate with commissioning, controls, mechanical, electrical, and field teams.

• Assist with system verification, functional testing, and startup documentation.

• Provide hands-on technical support to keep commissioning activities on schedule.

Qualifications

• Ignition Core Certification required.

• 1–3+ years of PLC/HMI programming, controls, automation, or commissioning experience.

• Hands-on experience with Ignition HMI/SCADA.

• Experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and/or CompactLogix PLCs.

• Strong troubleshooting skills involving PLCs, HMIs, instrumentation, and control systems.

• Experience with loop checks, I/O checkout, functional testing, and equipment startup.

• Must be capable of working independently in an active commissioning environment with minimal training.

• Data center or other mission-critical facility commissioning experience strongly preferred.

• Recent QTS Data Center experience is a definite plus.

Contract Duration: Approximately 2–4 months, with duration subject to project and commissioning needs.
