Automation Specialist

This is a short-term contract opportunity ideal for a hands-on PLC/HMI professional who can immediately contribute to loop checks, commissioning, and chiller startup efforts with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will have practical field experience with PLC systems, HMI integration, and startup support in industrial or mission-critical environments.

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Automation Specialist to support commissioning activities for a high-profile data center project in El Paso, TX. This is a short-term contract opportunity ideal for a hands-on PLC/HMI professional who can immediately contribute to loop checks, commissioning, and chiller startup efforts with minimal supervision.
The ideal candidate will have practical field experience with PLC systems, HMI integration, and startup support in industrial or mission-critical environments.
Key Responsibilities

• Support commissioning and startup activities for automation systems
• Perform loop checks and system validation
• Assist with chiller startup and operational testing
• Troubleshoot PLC and HMI systems
• Work closely with project teams to resolve field issues quickly and efficiently
• Support automation system functionality and performance verification
• Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and schedule requirements

Required Qualifications

• 3-5 years of automation, controls, or commissioning experience
• Experience in a Data Center environment
• Experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and CompactLogix PLC hardware
• Familiarity with PLC troubleshooting and startup support
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced commissioning environment
• Strong understanding of industrial automation systems and field devices
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
