CTG is seeking to fill a Mainframe Automation Engineer (z/OS System Automation) position for our client. Location: Remote Duration: Ongoing Contract Duties: Support mainframe automation initiatives within a z/OS environment, including operational support, service delivery, consulting, and automation engineering. Design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot automation solutions using IBM NetView for z/OS and IBM System Automation for z/OS. Participate in z/OS Automation Migration Projects, including migration from CA-OPSMVS to IBM Tivoli System Automation for z/OS. Support the migration from CA-Automation Point to IBM Systems Automation for Integrated Operations Management. Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot REXX automation scripts and System Automation Policy Database (PDB) definitions. Configure and manage automated z/OS system startup, shutdown, recovery, and operational processes. Use TSO and ISPF to perform system administration, configuration, troubleshooting, and operational activities. Develop and maintain JCL for automation, system operations, and batch processing requirements. Analyze automation requirements and recommend solutions that improve system availability, operational efficiency, and resiliency. Assist with the implementation and testing of fully automated IBM Z system configurations. Troubleshoot automation-related incidents and collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to resolve complex technical issues. Document automation configurations, procedures, migration activities, and operational processes. Expand automation capabilities across additional IBM Z software and competing automation products as required. Skills: IBM NetView for z/OS IBM System Automation for z/OS z/OS automation and systems operations TSO and ISPF JCL REXX System Automation Policy Database (PDB) z/OS system startup and shutdown Mainframe automation and operational support Automation migration and implementation Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to troubleshoot complex mainframe automation issues Knowledge of IBM Z systems, configuration, and operational processes Experience: 5+ years of experience working in a mainframe operations environment in an operational, service, consulting, or technical support role. Demonstrated experience implementing and using NetView for z/OS and System Automation for z/OS. Experience writing REXX and working with the System Automation Policy Database (PDB). Experience with z/OS Automation Migration Projects. Strong hands-on experience with TSO, ISPF, and JCL. Experience supporting z/OS system startup and shutdown procedures and automated system configurations. Knowledge of other z/OS software, including system operation, configuration, automation, and SMP/E. Knowledge of products that compete with IBM mainframe automation solutions is preferred. Experience with fully automated system configurations on IBM Z is preferred. Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with technical teams and stakeholders. Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent education and relevant professional experience may be considered. The expected base salary for this position ranges from $95.00 to $115.00/hour. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained.
