Position Overview:
The Automation Site Support Engineer will provide automation engineering expertise for a regulated manufacturing customer as a new facility moves from project delivery into operations. The engineer will help build sustainable support practices, configure and troubleshoot automation systems, support readiness activities, and preserve knowledge through operational handoff. This contract role requires on-site collaboration for project activities, workshops, reviews, and readiness work.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate cross-functional discussions about automation site support and lead them when needed.
- Coordinate with project teams, site support teams, administrators, and operational stakeholders to enable a smooth transition from delivery to operations.
- Develop sustainable automation support practices for work intake, prioritization, production support, on-call coverage, and execution.
- Assist with control system configuration, troubleshooting, standards, and system development using DeltaV and Rockwell platforms.
- Support development of operational metrics and key performance indicators.
- Help create hardware practices and standards for automation panels, field instruments, wiring, and related components.
- Identify support gaps and develop practical processes that address them.
- Develop support practices that align with change management expectations in a regulated environment.
- Support standard operating procedure development, system readiness, validation and testing coordination, and operational handoff.
- Coordinate process historian integration activities and work with functional stakeholders across automation, operations, and process engineering.
- Report progress and communicate challenges weekly to automation leadership.
- Provide shift support after operational transition when required.
