Automation Engineer

Experience designing and troubleshooting motor control circuits utilizing electromagnetic devices and variable frequency drives (VFD’s) is essential. This position requires the direct interface between frontline sales, customer, production planning (Watertown), and project management.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as an Automation Engineer working with motion and motor control products.
• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (or relevant engineering field) required
• This position requires excellent understanding of electricity, motor control electrical circuits, and analog- digital input/output. 
• Experience designing and troubleshooting motor control circuits utilizing electromagnetic devices and variable frequency drives (VFD’s) is essential.
• Must have a working knowledge of a wide variety of software packages, operating systems and control equipment.  
• Specifically, a knowledge of Siemens and Allen Bradley PLC programming software is required.
• A qualified candidate must be proficient in reading electrical schematics and vendor application drawings.  
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Verbal and written communication plays a key role in this position.
• This position requires the direct interface between frontline sales, customer, production planning (Watertown), and project management.  
• Site visits for application and commissioning require the ability to work at heights up to 100 feet off the ground.  
• Travel estimated at 20% to meet with customers, commission equipment, and witness product testing at our manufacturing plant.

Responsibilities: 

• Knowledge of Product lines – Legacy, EOT and Portal Cranes
• Engineering design, testing and commissioning of crane control systems.
• Perform engineering tasks using established procedures.  These include but are not limited to component selection, system layout, automation control programming, and system documentation.
• Generate system architecture and automation network drawings.
• Automation project planning, scheduling, design execution, and performance to budget from inquiry through start-up.
• System testing and troubleshooting of control programs.
• Troubleshooting and updating existing control programs.
