SMX is seeking an Automation Engineer, Mid to design, develop, and implement automation and orchestration solutions that enhance the efficiency, scalability, and resilience of the organization's cybersecurity and network infrastructure. By creating automated workflows and scripts, the engineer utilizes coding languages such as PowerShell, Ansible, and Python to integrate cybersecurity tools, streamline processes, and minimize manual intervention. Through collaboration with cross-functional teams, the Automation Engineer identifies automation opportunities, ensures seamless integration with existing systems, and enhances the organization''s cybersecurity posture.
This is a full-time on site position in Ft. Shafter, HI.

Required Skills, Experience & Education
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
At least 3 years of experience in automation engineering, scripting, or related roles.
Active Top Secret (TS) security clearance with eligibility for SCI and NATO read-on before commencing work.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in programming languages like PowerShell, Ansible, and Python.
Experience with automation and orchestration platforms such as Jenkins, Terraform, or comparable tools.
Familiarity with network infrastructure and cybersecurity systems, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and SIEM platforms.
Thorough understanding of system integration principles, APIs, and configuration management tools.
Technical Expertise:
Expertise in automation and orchestration tools, programming languages, and system integration methods.
Problem-Solving Skills:
The ability to identify process inefficiencies and create innovative solutions that improve system performance and lessen manual intervention.
Collaboration:
Skilled in collaborating with teams and engaging stakeholders to deliver automation solutions that align with organizational goals.
Communication Skills
Skilled in documenting workflows, writing technical reports, and presenting automation strategies to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Adaptability
Adept at learning new technologies and adapting to a dynamic cybersecurity and IT environment.
Attention to Detail
Diligent in testing and validating automation solutions to ensure their reliability, scalability, and security.
Cybersecurity Knowledge
A strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, tools, and processes enables the effective development of automation solutions to address security challenges.
