Role: Automation Engineer PLC
Location: Charlotte, NC
Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated Automation Engineer PLC to support the design, programming, testing, and commissioning of PLC-based building automation and control systems.The ideal candidate will have 2 5 years of experience in controls engineering, automation design, or PLC programming, with a strong foundation in control systems and the ability to take ownership of standard automation designs from development through commissioning.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop controls drawings in accordance with company and project standards.
Perform product selection for standard automation and controls applications.
Support the development and documentation of Sequence of Operations (SoO).
Program and configure PLC controllers for building automation systems.
Develop and execute functional test plans for bench testing and field validation.
Collaborate with SCADA teams to develop, maintain, and manage I/O lists.
Maintain accurate technical documentation, including revision logs, program backups, and project records.
Support the development and documentation of automation network architecture.
Perform bench testing by simulating real-world operating conditions and system sequences.
Troubleshoot control system issues and support structured problem resolution.
Ensure engineering deliverables meet quality standards, project requirements, and design specifications.
Travel to project sites as needed to support system commissioning and first-of-kind functional testing.
Collaborate with engineering, controls, SCADA, and field teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Controls, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.
2 5 years of experience in controls engineering, automation design, or PLC programming.
Strong hands-on experience with PLC programming and controls system design.
Ability to independently develop controls drawings and perform product selection.
Experience or familiarity with developing Sequence of Operations (SoO) documentation.
Basic understanding of automation network architecture and controls communications.
