Tesla's in-house Cathode Manufacturing Facility is located in Austin Texas. This investment is critical to our mission to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy and represents our efforts to increase the supply of cathode in North America. Automation Controls Technician work on a rotating shift schedule, focusing on field and control room chemical unit operations for safely running process systems and associated equipment during their shift. Candidates must have a strong work ethic, be safety conscious, display attention to detail, be adaptable, work with minimal direction, have good communication skills and be able to work in a team-based environment. The successful candidate will safely and efficiently operate the necessary equipment as an Automation Controls Technician. Automation Controls Technicians are the first responding problem solvers who manage machine breakdown recoveries to keep production running.
Maintain standardized work procedures for PLC troubleshooting, testing and automated equipment controls.
Assist in all areas of automated equipment maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure the cell team meets the equipment yield and availability targets
Troubleshoot and maintain all controls components such as PLC, safety devices, HMI, servo drives, process hardware and robots
Thrive in a fast paced and dynamic environment and able to manage multiple priorities
Operate equipment using internal or 3rd party software to decipher logs and troubleshoot equipment
Complete area specific training to obtain qualification to independently operate.
Issue permits for maintenance work
Minimum of 2 years of Controls Technician experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment
Skilled at troubleshooting electromechanical systems, building and wiring industrial electrical cabinets
Skilled in Siemens PLC Language, Fanuc Robots, SCADA & HMI systems, such as Ignition, WinCC, or SIMATIC
Preferred experience in Chemical Manufacturing process.
Command of the English language, written and verbal
