    Description

Step Into the Plant: A Day in This Role

Onsite in Warren, MI, you start your day close to the production lines—where uptime matters. You open Ignition to review SCADA dashboards, then dive into Studio 5000 to refine logic on ControlLogix and CompactLogix systems. You apply GM controls standards (GCCS and/or FACS) to keep equipment consistent across cells, and you migrate older logic and documentation into current, GM-aligned formats. By afternoon, you’re integrating Beckhoff hardware, tuning EtherCAT networks, and coordinating with IT/OT on EtherNet/IP topology. When production calls, you’re on the floor—debugging, launching, and supporting operators and maintenance teams.

    What You’ll Tackle

    • Design, program, commission, and troubleshoot Rockwell/Allen‑Bradley PLCs using Studio 5000 across ControlLogix and CompactLogix platforms.
    • Apply GM standards (GCCS/FACS) on both new and existing equipment to drive commonality and compliance.
    • Migrate legacy control logic and associated documentation to current GM‑aligned standards.
    • Develop and maintain soft automation standards, reusable code blocks, templates, and clear naming conventions.
    • Design, configure, and support SCADA systems—with a preference for Ignition.
    • Integrate and support Beckhoff hardware and EtherCAT networks within plant PLC, HMI, and SCADA architectures.
    • Support industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT) and collaborate with IT/OT teams as needed.
    • Read, redline, and update electrical schematics, I/O lists, and controls documentation.
    • Support installation, debug, launch, and resolve production issues on the plant floor.
    • Partner with manufacturing, maintenance, quality, and integration partners to elevate uptime, safety, and standardization across cells.

    Tools & Technologies You’ll Use

    • Rockwell Automation: ControlLogix, CompactLogix, Studio 5000
    • GM Controls Standards: GCCS, FACS
    • SCADA: Ignition (preferred)
    • Automation & Networks: Beckhoff, EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP
    • Documentation: electrical schematics, I/O lists, control narratives
