Definition/Purpose

An employee in this class performs various duties of a semi-skilled nature in the servicing and routine maintenance of a variety of automotive and construction equipment. Normally works under general supervision, with some opportunity for the use of independent judgment.

Characteristic Work

Greases automotive and construction equipment using grease gun, lubricants, and standardizes lubricating charts. Checks and changes oil and oil filters on automotive equipment. Checks batteries and adds water as necessary. Checks radiator and adds water to bring to proper level. Recharges and replaces batteries in light trucks and cars. Drains radiator and repaves water with anti-freeze to winterize equipment. Keeps the appropriate records. Replaces burned-out head lamps and various bulbs. Makes service calls in the field. Starts vehicles. Checks fluid level in transmissions and rear ends and adds sufficient fluid to bring up to proper level. Changes fluid and filter in automatic transmissions. Cleans general garage areas. Performs related works as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to read and write. High School graduate preferred and a minimum of one (1) year of experience in servicing and maintaining automotive equipment, or an equivalent combination of experience and training. Possession of valid State of Ohio Commercial Drivers License. Knowledge of the various parts and functioning of automotive and construction equipment. Knowledge of the proper servicing of various types of vehicles and construction equipment. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instruction. Ability to perform heavy physical work for extended periods. Ability to service equipment following standard lubrication charts.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30a.m.- 4:00 p.m.

Pre-Employment Drug Testing and Driving Record Check Required

Must possess a Class B Drivers License W/ Air Brakers within 6 months

of employment. Free in house training program offered.
