Austin Achieve Public Schools seeks individuals with an associate's or bachelor's degree to serve as full-time AmeriCorps Reading Specialists across elementary, middle, and high school campuses. Members are trained to deliver targeted reading intervention to students below grade level, supporting accelerated learning and closing academic gaps. Reading Specialists report to the AmeriCorps and Special Programs Director and work closely with campus staff. Candidates are encouraged to live in Northeast Austin or Pflugerville and engage with the local community. A criminal background check is required due to regular interaction with students. Members serve a one-year term, with the option to renew for a second year. Daily responsibilities include implementing intervention lessons, monitoring progress, and supporting measurable gains in reading achievement, including improved reading levels and assessment performance.
