As an Auditor Financial you will Perform reviews as part of the Offices internal control and financial management programs.

Facilitate and coordinate the annual review of Offices financial reporting controls.

Work with users who operate and manage the payment systems being reviewed.

Prepare audit reports.

Prepare all work papers to document all actions taken on tasks assigned.

Cross-reference work papers to the final report.

Serve as an Audit Liaison providing high-level audit coordination between external auditors and program offices.

Prepare and present formal and informal briefings to program office management and auditors on the status or results of studies reviews and systems projects.

Qualifications You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. The experience may have been gained in either the public private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Specialized Experience for the GS-12 you must have one year full 52 weeks of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service.

Specialized experience for this position is defined as - Analyzing the efficiency and effectiveness of internal controls OR Leading or assisting with the planning and execution of an audit OR Facilitating and communicating requests for information between the financial auditors and program offices.

Education

Individual Occupational Requirements A. Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a Bachelors degree or higher in accounting or in a related field such as business administration finance or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. The term accounting means accountingauditing in this standard. Similarly accountant should be interpreted generally as accountantauditor. OR

B. Combination of education and experience at least 4 years of experience in accounting or an equivalent combination of accounting experience college-level education and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. The applicants background must also include one of the following

  1. Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality. This can include up to 6 hours of business law

  2. A certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor obtained through written examination or

  3. *Internal Revenue Service (IRS) 
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is the largest of Treasury's bureaus. It is responsible for determining, assessing, and collecting internal revenue in the United States. 

Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) 
The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) is responsible for enforcing and administering laws covering the production, use, and distribution of alcohol and tobacco products. TTB also collects excise taxes for firearms and ammunition. 
 
   
Bureau of the Fiscal Service 
The Bureau of the Fiscal Service was formed from the consolidation of the Financial Management Service and the Bureau of the Public Debt. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) 
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) charters, regulates, and supervises national banks to ensure a safe, sound, and competitive banking system that supports the citizens, communities, and economy of the United States. 
 

Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA)  
The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) provides leadership and coordination and recommends policy for activities designed to promote economy, efficiency, and effectiveness in the administration of the internal revenue laws. TIGTA also recommends policies to prevent and detect fraud and abuse in the programs and operations of the IRS and related entities. 
 
  
U.S. Mint 
The U.S. Mint designs and manufactures domestic, bullion and foreign coins as well as commemorative medals and other numismatic items. The Mint also distributes U.S. coins to the Federal Reserve banks as well as maintains physical custody and protection of our nation's silver and gold assets.
