Audit Supervisor - Not-for-Profit

Location: Durham, NC

Overview

A national public accounting firm is seeking an Audit Supervisor for its Not-for-Profit practice in Durham (hybrid; relocation considered). This role is on a manager track for a high-performing auditor ready to lead engagement teams, mentor staff and build client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Maintain steady contact with not-for-profit clients throughout the year and understand their organizations, funding and compliance requirements
• Prepare engagement letters and fee estimates for manager approval
• Review staff assignments and monitor engagement progress against budgets and deadlines
• Supervise staff during fieldwork and review workpapers to ensure work supports the audit opinion
• Keep managers informed of significant developments and recommend solutions
• Coach and evaluate staff and provide on-the-job training
• Identify additional service opportunities and build referral networks through professional and civic organizations

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
• CPA license or active progress toward licensure (active CPA preferred)
• 5+ years of audit experience, including at least 3 years in public accounting
• Significant not-for-profit audit experience and knowledge of GAAP, FASB, GASB and NFP standards
• Yellow Book, Uniform Guidance and Single Audit experience preferred
• Proven leadership, client relationship and communication skills
