    We are seeking a customer-focused, technology-savvy Audiology Technician to support our audiologists and hearing aid team in Franklin. This role combines patient interaction, healthcare support, and hands-on technology troubleshooting. You'll help patients navigate hearing aids, assistive listening devices, Bluetooth connectivity, and other hearing technology while ensuring a smooth and positive clinic experience.

    What You'll Do

     

    • Assist patients with hearing aids, assistive listening devices, cochlear implant accessories, and Bluetooth-enabled technology
    • Troubleshoot hearing aid and connectivity issues while providing exceptional customer service
    • Support same-day patient appointments and clinic flow
    • Manage hearing aid inventory, repairs, shipments, warranties, and device tracking
    • Prepare equipment and treatment areas for daily clinic operations
    • Maintain accurate electronic records and patient documentation
    • Coordinate with audiologists, patients, and vendors to ensure timely service and follow-up
    • Travel occasionally to satellite clinics as needed

     

    What We're Looking For

     

    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences, Audiology, Speech-Language Pathology, Healthcare, Business, Technology, or a related field preferred
    • Experience in healthcare, medical office support, rehabilitation services, hearing healthcare, retail technology, customer service, or other patient-facing environments preferred
    • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
    • Comfort learning new technology and troubleshooting device-related issues
    • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced clinical setting
    • Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and commitment to patient service
    • Experience working with pediatric populations or individuals with special needs is a plus

    DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES:


    · Assist and counsel same day clinic patients independently with hearing aid repairs, supplies, earmold pick up and accessory Bluetooth pairing.

    · Document and bill for patient care services.

    · Schedule same day clinic patients for hearing aid cleanings, supplies, and repairs, and earmold pick up.

    · Respond timely to patient messages/calls and provider clinical messages.

    · Complete quality check of invoices with our negotiated prices and purchase order numbers.

    · Ship items back to manufacturers for repairs, remakes, or refunds via USPS, UPS, or FedEx.

    · Order hearing aids, accessories, and earmolds per Track aid or custom hearing aid forms


    TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES


    · Patient Documentation and Billing (Intermediate): Demonstrates mastery proficiency in documentation practices. Documents in the appropriate templates and utilizes only approved abbreviations within patient documentation. Meets institutional standards for quality and timeliness of documentation and billing. May orient new staff to departmental and VUMC documentation standards. Will complete accurate chart audits of co-workers’ documentation.

    · Customer Service (Intermediate): Keeps management informed on all aspects of one or more projects. Takes personal responsibility to ensure external and internal customer satisfaction is met despite pressures and/or significant obstacles. Discuss options with customers for alternative ways to meet expectations cost-effectively and efficiently. Commands respect and confidence from customers, and identifies, influences, and creates business opportunities. Deals with unexpected customer demands smoothly and without conflict.

    · Audiology Patient Education (Intermediate): Communicates functional impact of assessment findings, treatment interventions, diagnosis, and disease process. Adapts communication to the level of understanding of the patient. Determines comprehension and need for repetition and/or revision of counseling methods. Promotes public awareness and prevention of communicative and related disorders through local, and regional presentations to patient groups (e.g. American Tinnitus Association, Vestibular Disorders Association etc.) Generates measurable improvement in understanding and quality of life of patients and their families.

    · Hearing Aid Maintenance (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate the ability to maintain devices, accessories, or systems in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Assures that parts inventory is sufficient.

    · Quality Assurance (Novice): Has provided continuous analysis and evaluation of assignment work processes, constantly striving for improvement in the way tasks and activities are accomplished by questioning their value to the process and contributing creative solutions. Has participated in the process of establishing, communicating and monitoring standards for quality and excellence. Demonstrates the ability to actually work on and improve a current business process, product or service.
