A family law practice is seeking an attorney to join its San Diego office. This role involves handling family law matters from inception through resolution, with a strong emphasis on evidentiary hearings and courtroom advocacy.
The firm operates with a structured, systems-driven approach designed to support attorneys in managing their caseloads effectively. Attorneys work closely with paralegals and legal assistants, leveraging established processes to maintain organization, efficiency, and consistent client communication. The role includes both independent case handling and collaboration, depending on experience level.
Responsibilities:
Manage family law cases from inception through resolution
Prepare motions, briefs, and legal memoranda
Conduct legal research on complex issues
Appear in court for hearings and trials (in person and remotely)
Maintain consistent client and third-party communication
Participate in regular case reviews
Enter detailed client notes and billable time
Collaborate with support staff to move cases efficiently
Candidate Requirements:
J.D. from an accredited law school
Active California Bar license in good standing
Family law experience required
Approximately 4–12 years of relevant experience, depending on level
Demonstrated evidentiary hearing and trial experience
Compensation:
Mid-Level: $125,000 – $165,000 base salary
Senior: $165,000 – $200,000 base salary
Annual bonus based on firm performance
10% origination bonus
Target of approximately 1,500 billable hours annually
