Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is a separately organized agency within the Department of War (DoW) led by a Director, appointed by the Secretary of War. The Agency engages in advanced basic and applied research and development projects essential to DoW, and conducts prototype projects that embody technology that may be incorporated into joint programs, programs in support of deployed US forces, or selected Military Department programs. If you question the limits of science, technology, or human potential-youre already one of us here at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. Since 1958, DARPA has operated at the edges of what is known and possible, transforming radical ideas into real-world capabilities. From transforming communications that lay the foundation for the internet to revolutionizing prosthetics, our work has altered the trajectory of modern life. These were deliberate acts of intellectual audacity, crafted at the intersection of research excellence, strategic foresight, and national purpose. Behind every breakthrough is a thinker who refused to accept limits.

As an Attorney-Advisor in DARPAs Office of General Counsel, you will work at the intersection of law, technology, innovation, and national security, advising program managers and senior leaders on novel and complex legal issues. Your work will help DARPA move boldly and responsibly in areas where there may be no established legal playbook.

Join us in shaping what comes next.
