We are seeking a dedicated Attendance Officer to join our Student Services team at Southampton College. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in promoting student attendance, punctuality, wellbeing, and success across the College.
This role is full time (37 hours per week) on a 40-week term-time contract.
As an Attendance Officer, you will monitor and support student attendance across the College, with a particular focus on students who may be vulnerable or at risk of disengagement. You will work closely with teaching staff, safeguarding teams, students, and parents/guardians to improve attendance and ensure appropriate support is in place.
Duties
- Monitoring student attendance and punctuality using College systems.
- Processing and recording student absences and notifying relevant staff.
- Contacting students, parents, and guardians regarding attendance concerns.
- Supporting teaching teams to follow up with persistent non-attendees.
- Managing daily absence text communications and responding to related queries.
- Producing attendance reports and highlighting concerns to relevant teams.
- Maintaining accurate student records and updating attendance information in line with College policies.
- Supporting student sign-out procedures and ensuring appropriate permissions are obtained.
- Working collaboratively with safeguarding, wellbeing, and academic teams to support student engagement and achievement.
