Position
Overview:
The
School
Attendance
Clerk
performs
a
variety
of
functions
related
to
the
collecting
and
reporting
of
attendance
and
the
maintenance
of
student
attendance
information
at
the
assigned
site.
The
School
Attendance
Clerk
meets
district,
state,
and
federal
requirements
relating
to
attendance
processes,
including
parent
notification,
preparing
and
distributing
attendance
reports
and
materials,
providing
clerical
support
at
the
school
site,
and
communicating
various
information
regarding
activities.
Essential
Job
Functions:
Communicates
with
parents,
students,
staff,
etc.,
in
person,
by
telephone,
or
by
letter
for
the
purpose
of
providing
information
on
a
variety
of
attendance
issues
and
meeting
district
and
state
absence
notification
requirements
Develops
short-term
and
long-term
goals
that
support
the
philosophy
and
policies
of
the
Superintendent
Registers
new
students,
assigns
students
to
classes,
drops
students
timely
and
prepares
student
transfer
packets
of
information
to
receiving
schools
Issues
and
records
attendance,
absences,
and
tardiness
slips
daily
Ensures
accuracy
of
attendance
records,
including
verification
of
forgeries
and
truancies
for
the
purpose
of
complying
with
State
laws
governing
attendance
accounting
Maintains
student
cumulative
records
and
transcripts
Answers
inquiries
from
other
agencies
regarding
student
records
and
transcripts
Requests
student
transcripts
Maintains
and
monitors
a
variety
of
attendance
records,
schedules,
and
files
for
the
purpose
of
providing
reliable
information
in
compliance
with
district
policies
Enters
attendance,
grades,
and
other
data
in
a
computerized
system,
verifies
accuracy,
and
compiles
reports
for
student
enrollment
and
state
reporting
Prepares
required
reports
and
reviews
for
accuracy
prior
to
submitting
state
reporting
Remains
current
on
changes
in
statutory
law
by
attending
workshops
and
conferences
Maintains
demographic
data,
test
scores,
and
other
statistical
data
for
students
Monitors
class
size
and
reports
to
the
site
administrator
when
target
size
is
exceeded
Assists
with
general
functions
of
the
office,
including
reception,
answering
the
telephone,
responding
to
parent
concerns
Performs
various
routine
clerical
duties,
utilizing
standard
office
equipment,
to
include:
screening
incoming
calls;
taking
and
transmitting
messages;
maintaining
calendars;
scheduling
meetings;
keyboarding
information
into
databases;
making
photocopies;
performing
data
entry;
faxing
documents;
typing;
and
word
processing
Performs
other
duties
as
assigned

and
Experience:
Minimum
of
High
school
diploma
or
the
equivalent,
including
or
supplemented
by
course
work
in
business
and
accounting
Two
years
of
general
office/clerical
experience
preferred
Working
