Weber State University, a NCAA Division I institution and member of the Big Sky Conference, is seeking a qualified applicant for the position of compliance graduate assistant (GA) to work from July 2023 through the end of the 2023-24 academic year, with the possibility of extending the position to subsequent academic years. The GA will assist with day-to-day operations of the Office of Athletics Compliance. The successful candidate for this position will receive tuition and fees (including differential) as well as a living stipend.

The GA works under the general supervision of the Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Support Services and the Assistant Director of Compliance and reports directly to the Associate AD. The GA will work directly with coaches and student-athletes from all 16 sports and will assist in the day-to-day operations of the Office of Athletics Compliance and will be exposed to all aspects involved in running a NCAA Division I athletics compliance office.

Responsibilities may include:

Assisting in monitoring of NCAA Division I bylaw 12, including Name, Image, and Likeness issues

Assisting in the monitoring of NCAA Division I bylaw 13 recruiting rules

Assisting in the monitoring of NCAA Division I bylaw 17 playing and practice seasons rules

Reviewing required student-athlete forms

Assisting in the submission of waivers to the NCAA or Big Sky Conference

Assisting in rules education efforts

Processing transfer tracer forms for prospective student-athletes transferring from four-year and two-year colleges

Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university.

Admission and matriculation into a Weber State University graduate program. The successful candidate may be enrolled in undergraduate leveling courses or in undergraduate courses that count for credit toward graduation in their graduate program.

High ethical standards, extreme attention to detail, integrity and a willingness to exhibit a strict adherence to NCAA, Big Sky Conference, and Weber State University rules and regulations

Ability to effectively communicate through oral, written, and electronic forms.

Possess strong organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

Ability to take initiative, complete time-sensitive tasks, maintain confidential information, and multitask

Must be willing to work occasional nights and weekends.

Successful completion of a background check

A criminal Background check is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in a NCAA compliance office

Knowledge of NCAA Division I bylaws

Experience with job-related software such as NCAA applications, JumpForward, video editing software, Microsoft Office/Google Apps suite
