Job Summary
Responsible for evaluating and monitoring clinic patients as an athletic trainer within an orthopedic patient focus. Will participate in the implementation of patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician when applicable.
- Evaluates injuries, physical conditions, and needs, recommending a scientific care plan to include schedule treatment programs and related education based on their capabilities and limitations.
- Ensures the health, comfort, and safety of patients.
- Documents and interprets appropriate information gathered from a variety of sources, including the medical record, physician, and family.
- Utilizes appropriate testing/evaluation techniques to assess injuries.
- Contributes to the assessment of patients and administers treatments as ordered, which may include casting, splinting, bracing, and provides education to patients on proper fit and use.
- Observes patients, documents, and reports changes in patient condition, such as adverse reactions to medication or treatment, and takes any necessary action.
- Counsels patients and family members on prevention and treatment plans as directed.
- Explains and updates safety rules governing daily training, recreational activities, and the use of professional exercise equipment as needed for patient care.
- Implements and monitors any patient treatment regimen for rehabilitation and reconditioning according to diagnosis and real-time condition.
- Demonstrates competency and practices within the full scope of certification, expertise, knowledge, and utilizes appropriate age and population-specific standards as designated in their assigned clinical setting.
Qualifications
- Appropriate education level required in accordance with state licensure.
- Two years of experience preferred.
- Must be certified as an Athletic Trainer by the Board of Certification and be licensed and/or registered in states of practice and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges as required by position.
