Job Goal

Maintains outdoor athletic facilities and assists with indoor athletic events set up.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

These requirements are a representation of the types of duties and responsibilities that will be required of positions given this title and shall not be construed as an exhaustive list of specific duties and responsibilities. Management may direct employees to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

• Maintains baseball field turf and softball field clay and outdoor tennis courts.

• Responsible for grounds and landscaping including general plant care, soil excavation and removal, litter, and debris removal.

• Cleans, fertilizes, waters, mows, trims, edges, and maintains athletic fields and surrounding areas.

• Removes weeds from fields and surrounding grounds, including turf, landscape beds, tree rings and picnic areas.

• Maintains woodlands surrounding athletic fields.

• Cleans and maintains concession stand areas, dugouts and grandstands including press boxes.

• Performs routine sprinkler maintenance in addition to preventive maintenance. Helps repair pipes; fixes sprinkler heads; assists with some irrigation repairs.

• Assisting in the application of fertilizers and weed control, turf over-seeding, turf aeration and top dressing throughout the season.

• Must be available before and after hurricanes/ tropical storms for preparation and emergency clean-up.

• Responsible for field and gym setup prior to athletic events in accordance with NJCAA guidelines.

• Operates mowers, tractors, motorized carts, top dressers, aerators, verticutters, weed eaters, edgers, blowers, paint machines and spray equipment and various other maintenance equipment.

• Measures, lays out and lines athletic fields and courts to prescribed standards; prepares fields, clay, and courts for play; inspects for safety and maintenance needs.

• Assists in preparation of events held on baseball and softball fields.

• Sets up scoring table, nets, basketball backboards and bleachers for gym athletic events.

• Responsible for cleaning up before and after athletic events.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS

• Standard high school diploma or GED

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

• Knowledge or experience in athletic field grounds care and maintenance

• Special emphasis is placed on the following of instructions and directions

• Bending, walking, stooping, and lifting required

• Possess a valid Florida Driver's license and satisfactory driving record
