    Job Title: Athletic Grounds Wage/Hour Status: Non-exempt

    Reports to: Athletic/Grounds - Stadium Manager / Asst AD Pay Grade: AU04, 248 days

    Dept./School: Maintenance and Operations (M & O) Date Revised: August 2025

    Primary Purpose: Maintain safe and attractive athletic turf, athletic field and irrigation systems throughout the district.

    Qualifications: Education/Certification: High school diploma or equivalent Clear and valid Texas driver's license Certified Applicator license (LW) from the Texas Department of Agriculture (or willing to obtain within six months of hire)

    Major Responsibilities and Duties:

    Grounds and Landscaping

    1. Mow and detail all athletic fields and tracks.
    2. Clean stadium, stands, empty all trash and prep these items before all athletic games.
    3. Conduct pest control on athletic fields and surrounding area for ants, weeds, wasps, and other pests.
    4. Assist with the preparation of athletic fields for games, including chalking fields.
    5. Maintain all areas of the athletic fields including pole vault, shot put, track, fences, lighting, scoreboard, public announcement (PA) systems, etc…
    6. Maintain Barton fields, restrooms, and trash.
    7. Maintain Hays baseball, softball, tennis, trash receptacles around fields, locker rooms, and concession stands
    8. Water fields accordingly by frequency and amounts.
    9. Collect and dispose of leaves, dirt, rubbish, and refuse from district facilities.
    10. Assist with the inspection, repair, and installation of sprinkler systems.
    11. Prep restrooms and press boxes before all home games.
    12. Demonstrate a positive attitude, flexibility, and willingness to perform any additional tasks as assigned by the Supervisor.
    13. Perform their duties as assigned.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    Supervise any additional stadium help.

    Safety

    1. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
    2. Help keep vehicle, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition.
    3. Inspect and adjust tools and equipment for safety and efficiency and perform preventive maintenance as needed.

    6. Update work orders daily through CMMS, and close upon work completion.
