COMPENSATION: $65,559-$113,636 Annually; depending upon experience
The Athletic Director & PE Teacher is responsible for delivering a developmentally appropriate physical education curriculum rooted in Waldorf pedagogy, while also organizing and overseeing the school'sinterscholastic athletics program. A key focus of this role is the planning, coordination, and execution of co-ed volleyball games and middle school girls' and boys' basketball games, fostering healthy competition, sportsmanship, and community.
Physical Education Teaching (Grades 5–8)
Teach engaging, well-structured PE classes that promote physical fitness, coordination, teamwork, and joy in movement
Demonstrate excellent classroom management and the ability to work effectively with middle school students
Differentiate instruction to meet a range of developmental stages and abilities
Model fairness, respect, and enthusiasm for sport
Develop curriculum and plan lessons that develop and reinforce movement skills.
Athletic Program leadership
Serve as Athletic Director for the middle school athletics program.
Organize, schedule, and oversee co-ed volleyball games and girls' and boys' basketball games
Coordinate practices, game schedules, transportation, officials, and facilities as needed
Ensure a safe, inclusive, and positive athletic environment for all students
Collaborate with school leadership and faculty to align athletics with the school's mission and values
Events work
With support from the Lower Grades Games Teacher, plans and executes Harvest Festival, Brooklyn Waldorf School's version of a field day in Fort Greene Park.
Support May Fair
Community & Parent Communication
Maintain clear, timely, and professional communication with parents regarding schedules, expectations, and student participation
Build positive relationships with families, colleagues, and partner schools
Represent the school with professionalism at games and events
