Position Title: Athletic Director / Maintenance Director

Department: Athletics / Operations

Reports to: Superintendent

Admin Contract: 12 Month

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for directing and coordinating the districts athletic programs and overseeing the maintenance, custodial, and grounds departments. The Athletic Director / Maintenance Director ensures compliance with applicable regulations, maintains safe and efficient facilities, and supports Junior/Senior High School administration with student supervision and discipline.

DUTIES

Athletic Director

  • Directs and coordinates all district athletic programs.
  • Ensures compliance with IHSA rules, district policies, and applicable regulations.
  • Develops and maintains athletic schedules, including contests, transportation, and facility usage.
  • Coordinates officials, game workers, and supervision of athletic events.
  • Supervises and evaluates coaching staff in coordination with administration.
  • Maintains records of athletic eligibility, participation, and related documentation.
  • Oversees purchasing of athletic equipment, uniforms, and supplies.
  • Serves as liaison between the district, conference, IHSA, and community organizations.

Maintenance Director

  • Directs and supervises maintenance, custodial, and grounds personnel.
  • Evaluates maintenance and custodial staff in accordance with district procedures.
  • Develops and assigns work schedules for custodial and maintenance staff.
  • Coordinates custodial staffing and facility preparation for events and activities.
  • Oversees preventative maintenance and general upkeep of district facilities.
  • Maintains inventory and orders maintenance, custodial, and grounds supplies.
  • Assists in the development and monitoring of departmental budgets.
  • Coordinates repairs, improvements, and contracted services as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with safety standards, inspections, and regulations.
  • Responds to facility needs and emergencies in a timely manner.

Assistant Principal Support

  • Assists Junior/Senior High School administration with student supervision during the school day and at school events.
  • Supports implementation of student discipline in accordance with district policies and procedures.
  • Maintains visibility in hallways, common areas, and at school events.
  • Assists with supervision of arrival, dismissal, lunch periods, and other assigned duties.
  • Establishes and maintains positive relationships with students and staff.

General Duties

  • Assists with district planning related to athletics and facilities.
  • Works cooperatively with administrators, staff, and community members.
  • Maintains confidentiality of student and personnel information.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters degree required.
  • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with administrative endorsement. (or ability to obtain).
  • Experience in athletic administration, coaching, or school leadership preferred.
  • Experience in facilities, maintenance, or operations management preferred.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and community members.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in an appropriate and courteous manner.

SCHEDULING

Hours may vary based on district needs, including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

Valid Illinois License.

Salary/Benefits

Salary Range: $75K - $85K
