    JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: Assistant Principal/Athletic Director QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Valid New Jersey Principal Certificate or eligibility
    2. Successful teaching experience at the elementary and/or high school level
    3. Demonstrated leadership capability in the areas of curriculum and staff development
    4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    5. JOB GOAL: The Assistant Principal shall assist the Principal in all matters pertaining to the teaching-learning process, teacher selection, observation/evaluation and in service, development of the school budget and the general administration of the school. He/she shall participate as part of the principal's Management Team assuming direct responsibility for the organization and implementation of the instructional program. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIB ILITIES:
    6. Assist the principal in duties related to instruction, supervision, evaluation and the overall administration of the school.
    7. Serves as building administrator in the absence of the principal.
    8. Requisitions supplies, textbooks and equipment, conducts inventories, maintains records, and reviews receipts and purchase orders for such material.
    9. Assists in the conducting of safety inspections and safety drill practice activities.
    10. Assists the principal in coordinating transportation, custodial, cafeteria and other support services.
    11. Supervises the reporting and monitoring of student attendance, and works with the attendance supervisor for investigative follow-up actions.
    12. Assists in maintaining high standards of student conduct and enforcing discipline policies. Assists in the preparation of required reports of violence, vandalism, substance abuse and possession of firearms.
    13. Makes recommendations to the principal for changes in policies, personnel practices and other such matters that may result in a more effective school administration.
    14. Performs such record-keeping functions as the principal may direct. IO. Supervises teachers and departments as assigned by the principal.
    15. Assists in supervision of the cafeteria during lunch hours.
    16. Assists in scheduling and coordinating all health examinations.
    17. Supervises extracurricular programs, assembly programs and assignment of faculty members to assist at school functions.
    18. Assists in the coordination and supervision of special programs funded by the state or federal government.
    19. Assists in the scheduling process.
    20. Assists in the planning and supervision of activities to promote pupil and employee health and safety.
    21. Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the principal or superintendent.
    22. Organizes and administers the district's program of extracurricular athletics and assumes responsibility for the scheduling of all intermural and interscholastic athletic events.
    23. Provides leadership in the selection, assignment and evaluation of athletic coaches and trainers.
    24. Assumes responsibility for the proper supervision of home games and the availability of game officials, team physicians and security personnel.
    25. Assumes responsibility for compliance with board-adopted emergency medical procedures for all practice sessions and competitive events.
    26. Arranges for the transportation for athletic competitions.
    27. Develops and implements appropriate rules and regulations governing the conduct of athletic activities and ensures compliance with the rules promulgated by the NJSIAA.
    28. Verifies each athlete's eligibility according to established physical and academic requirements of eligibility for participation in each sport and obtains written parent permission for students to participate.
    29. Prepares and administers the athletic program budget and requisitions program supplies and equipment.
    30. Supervise all ticket sales and fund raising events of the athletic program and assumes responsibility for proper handling of funds.
    31. Arranges field and gym practice schedules.
    32. Supervises the care, maintenance and storage of all athletic equipment and supplies and maintains a current inventory.
    33. Arranges for the physical examination of all athletes prior to each season.
    34. Maintains records of athletic contests and award winners and plans and supervises an annual recognition program for athletes.
    35. Promotes good school-community relations and support through effective communication regarding the district's athletic program.
    36. Upholds and enforces school rules, administrative regulations and board policy.
    37. Performs other duties which may be within the scope of his/her employment and certification as may be assigned. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be determined by contract. EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of certified staff. REVISED: January 17, 2017
