The Trailways Athletic Conference is seeking an outstanding leader to serve as Co-Commissioner of the Conference.
The Trailways Conference is one of Wisconsin''s largest and most geographically diverse conferences, serving 24 WIAA member schools across southern Wisconsin. Beginning with the 2027-28 school year, the Conference will expand to 26 member schools, making collaboration, communication, and strong leadership more important than ever.
Working alongside a co-commissioner, the successful candidate will help provide leadership and administrative management for the Conference while supporting member schools, facilitating conference operations, strengthening relationships, and advancing the Conference''s mission of providing outstanding educational-based opportunities for students.
Previous experience in athletic administration is desired, but not a pre-requisite.
Primary Responsibilities
Working collaboratively with the Co-Commissioner, responsibilities include:
Leadership & Governance
Provide leadership and direction for the Trailways Conference.
Facilitate Conference and Executive Committee meetings.
Represent the conference at WIAA and WCCA (Wisconsin Conference Commissioner Association) meetings.
Assist in the development and implementation of Conference bylaws, policies, and procedures.
Serve as a resource to member schools regarding Conference policies and WIAA regulations.
Support strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
Conference Operations
Coordinate assigned conference sports, committees, championships, and special events.
Build the conference calendar and schedules for all conference sports and activities.
Assign WIAA officials to Trailways Conference competitions
Oversee conference awards, recognition programs, and All-Conference procedures.
Maintain conference records, standings, and historical information.
Ensure conference deadlines and administrative responsibilities are completed accurately and on time.
Serve as the conference treasurer, collecting dues, paying expenses, and preparing financial reports for each meeting.
Communication & Collaboration
Maintain regular communication with athletic directors, principals, district/school leaders, coaches, officials, and other stakeholders.
Prepare meeting agendas alongside the conference president.
Communicate Conference decisions, updates, and important deadlines.
Foster collaboration and positive relationships among member schools.
Assist in resolving questions and concerns professionally and consistently.
Administration & Technology
Utilize technology to enhance conference communication and operations.
Maintain electronic records and shared conference resources.
Support online voting, scheduling, reporting, and other administrative systems.
Recommend and implement process improvements that increase efficiency and service to member schools.
