    PURPOSE:The Athletic Center Director oversees the daily operation, management, scheduling, staffing, and use of Alaska Christian College's Athletic Center and related facilities. This position provides leadership and supervision to Athletic Center Attendants and helps ensure that the facilities are operated in a safe, professional, welcoming, and efficient manner.The Athletic Center Director serves as the primary operational manager for the Athletic Center and will alsooversee the use and rental of the chapel currently under construction and the future commercial kitchen as those facilities become available.This position works closely with the VP of Operations, ACC Front Office, and other College departments tocoordinate facility rentals, events, schedules, staffing, and customer service. The Director will also help develop revenue opportunities for the Athletic Center, including securing businesses and organizations to purchase advertising banners displayed in the gym.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Facility Management and Operations2. Oversee the overall operation of the Athletic Center and associated facilities.3. Ensure facilities are operated in a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming manner.4. Oversee the daily use of the gymnasium, workout areas, locker rooms, and other Athletic Center spaces. As facilities become available, oversee the scheduling and use of the chapel and commercial kitchen.5. Develop and maintain procedures for facility operations, opening and closing, rentals, events, and guest use.6. Monitor facility usage and make recommendations to the VP of Operations regarding operational needs, staffing, equipment, policies, and improvements.

    1. Ensure Athletic Center policies and procedures are consistently followed.
    2. Monitor the facility for safety, security, maintenance, and operational concerns.9. Report maintenance and repair needs promptly and follow up as necessary.10. Maintain appropriate records related to facility usage, rentals, incidents, and operations.11. Respond appropriately to emergencies, incidents, complaints, and unexpected situations.

    Staff Supervision1. Provide direct supervision and leadership to Athletic Center Attendants.2. Assist with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating Athletic Center Attendants in conjunction with the VP of Operations and Human Resources.3. Develop and maintain employee schedules based on facility usage, rentals, events, and operational needs.4. Ensure attendants understand and follow established policies, procedures, customer service expectations,cleaning responsibilities, and safety requirements.5. Provide ongoing training, coaching, and feedback to Athletic Center Attendants.6. Address employee performance or operational concerns in consultation with the VP of Operations.7. Ensure adequate staffing is available for scheduled activities, rentals, and events.

    1. Facility Rentals and Scheduling9. Serve as the primary point of coordination for Athletic Center facility rentals.10. Work in conjunction with the ACC Front Office to manage rental inquiries, reservations, scheduling,contracts, payments, and customer communication.11. Coordinate rentals for the gymnasium, Athletic Center spaces, chapel, and future commercial kitchen asappropriate.12. Maintain an accurate and up-to-date facility calendar.13. Ensure rentals are scheduled in a manner that avoids conflicts with ACC activities, programs, classes, andother College priorities.14. Communicate facility rules, expectations, fees, setup requirements, and other necessary information torenters.15. Coordinate appropriate staffing, setup, cleanup, access, and security for rental events.16. Conduct facility walkthroughs with renters when appropriate.17. Help develop rental packages, pricing recommendations, and procedures in consultation with the VP ofOperations.18. Follow up with renters regarding questions, concerns, damages, or other issues.19. Build positive relationships with community organizations, athletic programs, churches, businesses, andother potential facility users.

    Revenue Development and Advertising1. Actively pursue opportunities to increase appropriate revenue generated through the Athletic Center andassociated facilities.2. Develop relationships with local businesses and organizations interested in supporting ACC through gymadvertising.3. Solicit and secure businesses and organizations to purchase advertising banners for display in the gym.4. Coordinate banner pricing, placement, renewal, design requirements, and agreements in consultation withthe VP of Operations and other appropriate ACC staff.5. Maintain records of banner advertisers, agreements, payments, and renewal dates.6. Work to retain existing advertisers and identify new advertising partners.7. Identify additional appropriate revenue opportunities through rentals, events, programs, sponsorships, andfacility use.

    1. Ensure all revenue-generating activities are consistent with ACC's mission, values, policies, and operationalgoals.

    Events and Programs1. Assist with coordinating tournaments, camps, leagues, community events, conferences, chapel events, andother activities held within the facilities.2. Work with internal and external groups to coordinate schedules, setup, staffing, equipment, and facility needs.3. Help promote the use of ACC facilities within the local community.4. Coordinate with other ACC departments regarding College-sponsored events and activities.5. Help evaluate opportunities for new programs, events, partnerships, and community use of the facilities.6. Financial and Administrative Responsibilities7. Work with the ACC Front Office and Business Office to ensure rental payments, advertising revenue, andother facility-related transactions are properly documented and processed.8. Maintain accurate records of rentals, facility usage, revenue, and other operational information.

    1. Assist the VP of Operations with developing and monitoring the Athletic Center operating budget.10. Monitor expenses and make recommendations regarding equipment, staffing, supplies, and facility needs.11. Assist with ordering supplies and equipment as authorized.
    2. Provide regular updates to the VP of Operations regarding facility usage, rentals, staffing, revenueopportunities, and operational concerns.13. Assist with the development and implementation of policies, procedures, rental agreements, and facility forms.14. Perform other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Directly supervises Athletic Center Attendants and may oversee volunteers or temporary workers assigned toAthletic Center events or operations.

    REQUIREMENTS:1. High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required; additional education or relevant experience preferred.2. Previous experience in facility management, recreation, athletics, customer service, event management, ora related field preferred.3. Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.4. CPR training and First Aid Certification required or willingness to obtain certification; ACC will cover the costif not currently certified.5. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.7. Strong customer service skills and the ability to interact professionally with students, staff, communitymembers, renters, and vendors.8. Ability to supervise, train, schedule, and provide direction to employees.9. Ability to manage multiple schedules, rentals, events, and operational responsibilities simultaneously.10. Strong organizational and time-management skills.11. Ability to work independently, take initiative, and exercise good judgment.12. Strong problem-solving skills with a teachable spirit.13. Ability to professionally address complaints, conflicts, or facility concerns.14. Basic proficiency with computers, email, calendars, Microsoft Office, and facility scheduling or registrationsystems.15. Ability to maintain accurate records and basic financial documentation.16. Ability and willingness to develop relationships with businesses, organizations, and potential renters.17. Comfort communicating with businesses and organizations regarding advertising, sponsorships, rentals, andfacility opportunities.18. Familiarity with athletic facilities, gym operations, events, or recreational programming is desirable.19. Must demonstrate strong cultural sensitivity and awareness.20. Must understand and maintain the confidentiality of information acquired during the course of duties.21. Must be reliable and dependable with regular and timely attendance.22. Must be willing to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, based on rentals,events, and facility needs.23. Must be able to pass a background check.24.     WORKING CONDITIONS:These duties will be conducted in an office environment, Athletic Center, chapel, commercial kitchen, and otherareas of campus as necessary. The position requires regular movement throughout the facilities and interactionwith employees, students, renters, guests, and community members.The employee must have adequate sight and hearing to meet the responsibilities of the position. Must be able to lift40 pounds on an occasional basis.Hours will initially average approximately 10 hours per week. Hours may increase as Athletic Center use, facilityrentals, events, chapel use, commercial kitchen operations, and other programs expand.The position will require some flexibility in scheduling, including occasional evening and weekend responsibilities.

    DRESS CODE:Within the office, "business casual" dress is expected. Jeans are acceptable as long as they are clean and well-kept. Athletic or event-appropriate attire may be worn when performing duties within the Athletic Center orsupporting events when approved by the supervisor.If you have questions about what is appropriate, speak with the supervisor.
