Athletic Academics Coordinator

Description & Details:

The Athletic Academic Coordinator at North Dakota State University is responsible for providing comprehensive academic support and guidance to student-athletes while helping them achieve academic success, maintain eligibility, and successfully balance the demands of collegiate athletics and higher education. This position works closely with student-athletes, coaches, academic advisors, faculty, campus support services, and athletics administration to develop individualized academic plans, monitor academic progress, and promote a culture of academic excellence within the athletic department. • Provide academic advising and ongoing support to assigned student-athletes.
• Monitor student-athlete academic progress, including grades, course completion, degree progress, and academic eligibility.
• Communicate regularly with coaches and athletics staff regarding academic progress while maintaining appropriate student privacy.
• Track academic data and prepare reports related to student-athlete academic performance and progress.
• Support new student-athlete orientation and academic transition programs.
• Provide student advocacy and education in University and NCAA processes and appeals

Work Schedule:

Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00; 7:30-4:00 during breaks and summer semester

Hiring Range:

$50,000-$54,000

Pay is based on several factors, including budget, labor market, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and/or certification and other business considerations.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree
• 1-3 years of experience working within higher education or an athletic department
• Demonstrate an understanding of the developmental needs of student-athletes
• Experience with individual student support and development
• Ability to collaborate closely with diverse populations and constituencies
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree
• Familiarity with NCAA academic rules and policies
• Experience with the NCAA compliance database
• Experience developing academic success programs or interventions
