We are seeking a Configuration Management (CM) Specialist to support our growing North American technology systems ATC market. This role is responsible for maintaining the integrity, traceability, and availability of system artifacts across the full project development lifecycle. The ideal candidate will ensure proper version control, repository management, and governance of artifacts to support reliable and repeatable systems, from pre-sales conception through to service for customer operations. The work location for this position is Columbia, MD.

Your tasks

  • Artifact & Repository Management
  • Manage and maintain artifact repositories
  • Ensure proper storage, versioning, tagging, and life cycle management of artifacts
  • Enforce naming conventions, versioning standards, and retention policies for artifacts Configuration Management
  • Develop ATC Projects team configuration management process and procedures; coordinate to resolve configuration issues.
  • Design, develop and establish configuration and data management plans and documents based on project requirements.
  • Track and manage changes to configuration items (CIs) using CM tools and processes.
  • Maintain baseline configurations and ensure consistency across development, test, and production knowledge management repositories and environments. Project Support
  • Ensure artifacts are properly generated, stored, and promoted through environments.
  • Assist in artifact completion, ensuring traceability from pre-sales to customer-delivery.
  • Provide input to Program Management on project risk management plans. Governance & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with organizational CM policies, standards, and audit requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing artifact traceability and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate CM records and reports. Process Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve artifact management workflows and automation.
  • Assist in implementing best practices for artifact lifecycle management and repository usage.
  • Contribute to documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Your qualifications

  • Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Knowledge of CMS terms, tools, and methodologies.
  • Experience with Change Control Boards, defect tracking, project baseline maintenance, formal change control processes, and formal functional and physical audit practices.
  • Professional training / certification in CM processes (e.g. CMMI, ISO, MIL-STD).
  • Ability to learn and implement CM/Data Management (DM) & Quality Assurance (QA) tools.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Proficient in Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence)
  • Familiarity with requirements management tools (Jira easeRequirements, Jama)
  • Excellent technical writing skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30%.
  • Understanding of systems engineering and project development life cycle
  • Proactive, analytical, detail-oriented and self-managed.
  • Comfortable managing peer-deliverables and auditing of project team.
  • US citizen capable of receiving a US Government security clearance. Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN) and branching strategies.
  • Experience managing container artifacts (e.g., Docker images) and registries.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code or configuration tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform).
  • Exposure to security practices such as artifact scanning and vulnerability management.
  • Experience in regulated environments (e.g., government, aerospace, healthcare).

The total compensation for this position is $80K-$130K. Total compensation includes base salary, variable pay (when applicable) plus benefits. The range is determined by the position, geographic location and level. Individual pay within the range is determined by several factors including location, education or training, relevant work history, sales incentive structure and job-related skills.
