    Description

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Engineer steel structures in compliance with applicable building codes
    2. Engineer steel structures to meet customer specifications and Porter Corp design standards
    3. Conceptualize and engineer steel structures using RISA-3D and other CADD software
    4. Create calculations reflecting the structural requirements for a given project
    5. Review submittal and fabrication drawings to ensure consistency with calculations
    6. Maintain internal project scheduling and coordinate with drafting and production capacities
    7. Leverage engineering knowledge and internal tools to develop multiple levels of pricing
    8. Communicate technical information to nontechnical audiences
    9. Participate in a team environment of open and active engagement
    10. General familiarity with the company’s facilities, processes, policies, and products
    11. Share in a company-wide philosophy of continuous improvement
    12. Perform other related duties as required

    Education and/or Experience

    1. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university
    2. I.T. preferred, or ability to successfully obtain E.I.T. within 6 months
    3. 0-5 years experience in structural engineering

    Travel

    This position requires minimal to no travel

    Computer Skills

    • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access
    • Demonstrated proficiency using EPICOR ERP or similar systems

    Other Requirements

    1. Familiarity with structural analysis software is preferred
    2. Demonstrated ability in MS Office, with excellent written and communication skills
    3. Knowledge of engineering principles and product development techniques and processes
    4. Originality and judgement in the independent evaluation of new applications and products
    5. Familiarity with major building codes in the United States and their applications
